PLEADING FOR HELP: Meet No Chance. No Chance, has no chance in hell of making it without rescue. He is sweet, submissive and hungry. He is currently at the St. John Animal Shelter, another inmate, subjected to animal neglect and cruelty. This sweet affectionate puppy is possibly a pit bull mix and St. John Animal Shelter is not permitted to adopt pit bulls or pit mixes to the public.

No Chance will be euthanized in a few days. Can anyone offer this little guy a prayer of a better life? A Second Chance??? He is possibly 5 months old and super affectionate - all he wants
to do is curl up in someone's lap. Please forward this email - Let's give him at least one chance by forwarding this email to a rescue that may be able to help him. I will be happy to assist with transport.

OMG....that is so sad!!!! I can't believe how skinny that poor dog is. It looks like someone tried to starve him to death. :(

Notes: 9/24/06 CHANCE (formally No Chance) was rescued by Animal Rescue New Orleans just in the nick of time, thanks to VetAdoptions notifying us. As you can see in his pictures, he was very close to starving to death. Chance was found in the back of a business in LaPlace. The business owner called Animal Control and Chance was taken to the animal shelter where all they could do was feed him for five days and hope that he would be rescued. They could not adopt him out as they are not allowed to adopt out Pits or Pit mixes. We don't really know Chance’s story but he must have been locked up and obviously, he had not eaten in a very long time. A wonderful animal rescuer, Melanie Manning of VetAdoptions, saw Chance at the shelter but she could not take him as she knew his care would be long-term and expensive. She sent out a plea for help and Animal Rescue New Orleans came to his rescue. Chance was immediately taken to the vet. He is anemic (mainly because of parasites like hookworms), heartworm positive and severely malnourished. He weighs only 15 pounds. He should weigh at least 40-45 pounds. He will be nursed back to health by ARNO volunteers and when healthy enough, receive heartworm treatment and be neutered. His vet bills will be an ongoing expense. If you would like to donate to Chance's recovery fund, please go to animalrescueneworleans.org and click on DONATE. You can leave a message in the 'notes' section that you want to donate to help Chance. If you would rather send a check by mail, please send donations to Animal Rescue New Orleans 1219 Coliseum Street New Orleans, LA 70130. We will post updates on Chance's recovery.

I just made a donation and have e-mailed everyone I know to do the same. Hopefully enough funds will be raised to help cover his on-going vet expenses. It's going to be a long recovery for him, but I know he'll pull through.
