My first suggestion is to have your vet do a fecal exam to check for parasites. After we got Emma over giardia, she had nice, firm poos, but the last poo of the day was softer. We cut down the amount we were feeding her by 1/4 cup at each feeding and no more soft poos. Best of luck.

It sounds like your pup is young if being fed 3 times a day... Because of the shortness of the large intestine as the pup eliminates his last portion of stool will be softer ... There has not been enough time for water to be absorbed back into the system. When the pup is older and being fed twice a day that tends to go away if feeding correct amount of food and a diet that agrees with pup.
You could bring a stool sample to the Vet..... just be sure it is the runny part.

yes, the first step with soft stools is a vet check. You can cut back to 2 meals a day any time after 3 months. Judge how much to feed by the puppy's condition, Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest. You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them. Each dog is different. Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog must have its food and exercise adjusted to its individual needs. I looked back at your previous posts and noticed that you recently changed foods. Was your puppy having problems before the change as well? If not, the new food just may not suit him. However it's stressful for puppies to switch foods for any reason, and stress can make puppies more susceptible to parasites, etc.. so the fecal exam is a good first step.
Also, did you compare the calories of the two foods? It could be that the new food has more calories per cup and you are inadvertently overfeeding.
