Harley is 5 months old now. I have heard several people talking about puppys growing too quickly and that causing joint problems. And to overcome that, some mix half puppy food, half adult. What are your opinions?

When should he go on the adult food, one year old?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think I have an exact answer, but I have started to switch my girls (6 mos) over to adult food. They lost all their baby teeth and have been doing well with 1/2 puppy and 1/2 adult. The breeder I adopted my first two labs from switches after a 35lb bag. She has done this for over 15 years, and it must work for her.

I am switching Opal over to adult food as well and she is also 6 months old.

We switched Cody from LB Puppy to adult food at about 14 weeks, due to tummy troubles. He has done beautifully on it, and is about 70 lb at 8 months.

Moose is 5 months old and he has about 2-3 weeks worth of his puppy food left. Once this bag is nearing the end, he'll be switched to adult food. It seems as though more and more breeders are skipping puppy food alltogether, feeding only one big bag of it, or switching to adult food as soon as all the adult teeth are in.
