Does anybody feed their dog Exclusive. If you are or have, do you like it? Why or Why not? It is comparable to Canidae and Nutro.

Exclusive was the first food we tried when we got Jasmine because when Sawyer came home (was missing 10 days), our local feed store owner gave us a large bag to help get him back in shape and it worked wonders. Unfortunately, Jasmine couldn't adjust and had very runny stools. I feel bad because I would have liked to give him our buisness. He was so good to us during a very rough time.

IMO Purina in general isn't a good food. I know I'd have some get their hackles up on that, but I don't think it is the best choice...

It is definitely not as good as Canidae. Nutro is probably better as well.... I'd say go with Canidae.

Everyone gives Purina a bad rap. Exclusive isn't a general purina food, this is their best stuff. Nutro's chicken and rice formula I think has it's first ingredient as Chicken Meal. Exclusive has chicken then chicken meal. Their chicken is never frozen and they have no chicken bi-products or wheat gluten. Here are the first 5 ingredients: Chicken, chicken meal, rice flour, oatmeal, whole grain brown rice. I don't want to start a big fight but quit giving Purina a bad rap. My families have raised horses and dogs on it and it's not that bad.

Purina's been around a long time, so it can't be to to bad. I just think that there's so many super premium brands out there now that many people frown or turn their nose up at Purina brands or grocery store brands. On the other hand, you still see alot of people buying the less expensive brands. Either they're uninformed or they're happy with how their animals thrive on it.

We were in the N Georgia Mtns not to long ago and went into a pet / feed store type place. They were really pushing Pinnacle. I looked at the ingredients and sure enough it looked like something I would want to feed Noel and Max. I'm sure it's a great dog food, but when my hubby saw the price of 49.00 for a 20 or 30lb bag he looked at me and said "don't even think about it".

Noel did good on Purina One except for the yeast infections in her ears. We switched to a no corn, wheat or soy brand and I don't think my hubby has a clue that I've been paying about $32.00 a bag for that. He's old school needless to say. He's a firm believer in Purina products.

It has too many grains in my opinion and I don't feel they have a place in a dogs diet....I also do not like Nutro. I think that California Natural, Canidae, Innova, Eagle Pack, Orijen are all good kibbles for a dog.

Now I agree that there are now better foods than some of the old school brands. But then again not all dogs do well on the newer better brands. Feed what works for your dog to keep them happy and healthy, if it's purina go for it, if it's Canidae that works too.

Many people like less fillers, like wheat, corn or soy, some want chicken meal instead of chicken because they get more meat with the meal. I am one of those and I found a food that Bear does well on and is the best i can get in my town so that is what we feed, and it's a fairly cheap food. $24 for a 40lb bag I believe. So price doesn't always mean good or bad remember! If you have your dog on something that has fillers in it, or has meat instead of meal and they do well on it keep them on it unless you have a reason to switch IMO.

I don't agree. Dogs are carnivores and need meat...grains (especially large amounts) are uneccessary for dogs and have no place in being a big part of a dogs diet.

Just because your child looks fine eating Special K or any of the other cereals doesn't mean they should eat it every day. Kids enjoy it so why can't they eat it for every meal every day? They need meat, veggies, fruit etc..
