Me again,
Is it OK to give my 11 week puppy a raw egg? How frequent?
He has terribly dry skin and itches and bites himself a *lot*. Maybe the egg would help?
I have a book at home that says to give a cooked (scrambled) egg.
Any comments?
Thank,
L

I don't know if I would be adding to much to your puppies food just yet. How about checking with the breeder to see what food might be better. Once you start adding supplements you change the balance of the food, puppies are growing and this could have an effect on them. Older dogs can handle eggs, yogurt and different oils such as flax and fish but like I said puppies are very sensative.
Our puppy is a rescue lab - we don't know the breeder. We're in the process of switching his food, hopefully that will make his skin less itchy! I'll wait a while to do the egg - thanks for your reply.

I raise hens so we always have tons of fresh eggs around. I give my dog and 4 month old puppy about 3-4 raw eggs (with shells) a week. I gave my puppy eggs ever since I got her at 10 weeks, although I started out by only giving her about one a week then.
My dogs LOVE to go to the coop with me every afternoon. I usually mix it in with their food, but sometimes I'll give it to them right out of the coop.

when I asked our breeder about giving Zeus a raw egg he said that a COOKEd egg is better for them to digest - we give them 1 egg a week - we usually scramble it and mix it in with their dog food in the morning as a special weekend treat.

Just wondering can dogs(my puppies 11 months) have white eggs from the grocery store instead of the fresh"Brown"chicken eggs?

I've been told it doesn't matter what color the egg is.
I guess the a difference would be if whether it was organic or not.

Organic is always best but availability and cost is the big factor.

Not only does one give an egg to a dog, but the shell too and it is okay for them but not sure for a puppy. We give our 2 yr old dogs a min of 1 a week, most 2.

The color of the egg doesn't matter. Different breeds of chickens lay different color eggs. I have hens that lay white, tan, brown, speckled and even green!
Raw eggs are fine for dogs, based on all the reading I've done (BARF diet).
