Buddy has an owner but his owner was in a car accident and may, or may not, be able to reclaim Buddy. Buddy has a quiet demenor and usually just lays in his kennel. He's a big boy and weighs approx. 80 lbs. Buddy is approx. 3-5 years old and is already neutered. Buddy would be a good choice for someone looking for a mature, adult, dog with a low energy level.

Adopting A Friend
Adoption fee is $20 and there is no charge for approved rescues that want to pull a dog. All dogs are held for a 5 business-day period regardless of whether or not they are an owner surrender. The dogs can be released for adoption or rescue the day following their fifth day. If there is no adopter or rescue interest during their initial 5 days, the dog can be euthanized. If there is adoption or rescue interest during the initial 5 days, the dog will be held for an additional 5 days so that the adopter can pick up the dog or transport can be arranged for dogs going into rescue. This means that it is VERY important that you contact the shelter, or the shelter's volunteer, and express your interest in a particular dog prior to the end of its initial five days. The shelter has limited volunteer resources but most of the time the volunteer can help with transports for dogs going into rescue. You can contact the shelter's volunteer at smauck@frontiernet.net if you need transport help.

What a handsome boy!!

Can anyone foster (with possibility of adopting) until it's determined if he can go back home? He looks soooo sad and it didn't sound like they knew the owner wouldn't reclaim him.

Please help Buddy! In case his owner doesn't come..he could run out of time!

He looks like he could be Lucy's brother, he's killing me! Is there something we can do to buy him time while his owner recuperates? I'd donate. I can't imagine him being adopted, relocated, etc and then his owner can't get him back.

I've emailed the shelter to find out if they think he will be reclaimed and what his status is at this time. I told them we would like to try to find him a new home if he needs one. I will update as soon as I hear anything. He is a heartbreaker...must be so confused to find himself at the pound.

I hope to hear something today!!

Paws crossed for a happy reunion for Buddy & his family and that we can all help. (Or find Buddy a home in the event his owner can no longer care for him).

Me, too! They suggest "email only" so I am anxiously waiting a reply! If Buddy's owner can not take him back, I know they would want him to find a wonderful forever home. He is too precious to spend much time in the pound!

Buddy is super cute ! I hope there is some way to help him... I wld take him if he wasn't across the country...

There's a phone number on the petfinder page so I just called. The shelter is trying to get in touch with Buddy's family to arrange for them to get him, so for now he is safe. They suggested calling back to be sure. I told them we would find a way help if need be. I'll call again tomorrow.

I just spoke with the shelter again and the adoption corrdintor is off now until Monday. They think Buddy's owner doesn't want him and he is safe for now but they will call me Monday to let me know, and then we can go from there.

My husband already said no way. I tried. Lucy was last year's bday gift, but he said not another one this year. I can't win, DH does all the work and gets the dog hair on his pillow and I'm disabled, so I get the snuggling. I'll do my best to help save Buddy.

Bump for Buddy!!! How could anyone not want this big ball of yellow love? We need to find a home for him if he is unwanted by his owner! Buddy is a true gem!

Buddy is safe for now. I have a message in to the adoption coordintor who is in on Monday. They know we will try to save him if his family doesn't want hm.

So even though you may not see me posting, I'll bust my bootay to get these kids circulated and in front lots of people so they stand a better chance.

You aren't going to believe this.... I just received ANOTHER msg from a rescue in OH that will take him in a heartbeat!!

Me too. Teri, I sent you a couple of emails. I spoke withthe adoption coorrdinator this morning - Officer Ebersol. She said they must exhaust all the channels to get this boy back to his owner. They already got a call this morning from St. Francis Animal Sanctuary in Ohio (my guess is this is one of your 2 potential adoptees). We need to keep up with this and make sure when he is ready for them to let him be adopted, we get him. There is no vetting, no waiting period, nothing, but they will need the copy of the 5013c from the rescue, plus 2 references and a vet reference to let him go to them.

It looks like Buddy is in demand! There are several rescues in line to adopt him, on in OH, one in NY and one in NJ. All we need is the clearance from the shelter that his owner relinquished him!!! Hopefully it will come in the next day.

Thank doG Buddy will be well taken care of--wherever he winds up.

I just spoke to the shelter and they have a local rescue who is supposed to get him tomorow. I will call tmw afternoon to be sure, then we can mark him as safe.
