hi all,

i appreciate all the responses i've gotten from my previous posts, and i really enjoy reading the other posts, as it make tayler not seem like such a wild animal.

well i've noticed that tayler (our 11w old yellow) when in the living room has been running laps around the couch and figure 8's round the couch and dining table, and at FULL SPEED! and i'm carious to why that is, and it happens most of the time after we come back from a nice walk outside, she would run a lap around the couch, growl at her toy and off to another lap. does that mean she isn't tired or worn out? should we go for a longer walk? i'm sure that's just her playing around and it's normal behavior, but it just seems bizarre to me because she does this after we come home from a walk.

thanks
paul

That's a Puppy Burst! They all do it and I'm not sure why. Puppies, like kids, have lots of energy and puppies seem to like to burn it off in a burst like this. Pretty cool, huh? Enjoy them while you can, just make sure Tayler doesn't smack into anything. Calley will do this for 5 minutes or so and then go straight into a nap. :D

My two do this a lot! Anubis still does this at 1 1/2 years. They also call it butt tucking. I call it the friskies! Like race cars tearin' down the hallway! Lookout!:D

The "technical" term for that is a FRAP. FRAP stands for Frenetic Random Activity Period. Its just what you described, they'll tear around at full speed like a nut! It lasts only for a few minutes but I think its the funniest thing!

My two do it too. I absolutly love to watch it. I have seen other dogs do it to but didn't realize it was this popular. I have a three year old that still does this. I think he just does it to prove that he's not old yet compared to our 1yr old puppy. I will keep watching and keep on enjoying.

Us humans are hilarious, IMHO. We actually have a technical term for this. I have a FRAP pickup on one of my guitars - stands for Frequency Response Amplitude Pickup. Now I have a FRAPpy dog, too! LOL! :bounce:
