We sent off the paperwork today for the Lab mixer/SE Frolic at Cooper Black In SC September 29 Noon till 6 this will be a set up and early bird day and Saturday September 30 from when you get there until you go home or dark which ever comes first.

We will have 3 or 4 pro trainers there that can help with any little issues you may have a question on.

We will have games for the dogs.

We will have demonstrations of hunt test dogs in action. You will be able to run your dogs on any of the marks you want.

This is going to be a fun day for meeting people playing with dogs and maybe learning something if you want to. It will all be a casual outing you can participate in anything you want or you can kick back with your fur buddy and enjoy the great outdoors.

We haven't decided on the food situation yet. I'm not sure if we are going to do a pot luck (not very practical seeing how most people will be driving a long way to get there. (8 hours one way for me) So we may find a local to come out with a big grill and all the extras and just have a per plate deal set up. You buy what you want type of thing.

This is a first time event so it may have a few bugs to work out. And as time gets closer we will have a better idea on what is going to happen.

Thing we do need is a list of people that are going to come 80% or better for sure your going to make it. And a list of maybes that way I have a running list of things we may need to have on hand.

RSVP to thackertrainer@aol.com
I may set up a page on my website with updated information
give me a few days on that one it's 7/11/06 now so don't check until 7/12/06 late PM that website is www.thackervilleretrievers.com

We have selected the Days Inn in Cheraw, SC as the "official" hotel of the SE Frolic. They are pet friendly and have outside entrances to the rooms for easy in and out with the dogs. Cheraw is about 15 minutes from Cooper Black. Here is the link to the hotel with all the information (rates, phone number, directions).

Awesome, thank you! I will discuss this with my DH and see what we can do. We aren't too far from SC, so we would really like to do this. His schedule is never definate though, as he is military...but closer to the date we should have a better idea!

I just got a box from the UKC United Kennel Club. They sent a dozen copies of their magazine, a bag full of key chains, UKC hunt test rule books, Registration forms, and a bunch of other information to share with everyone at the event.

DT Systems is going to send a few bumpers to be given as prizes. RFG is putting a package together But Bob won't tell me what's in it yet. I know there will be a few Dokken birds in the box.

Joel is talking to a few people about some other donations. We may just have a little something for everyone.

Courtney is working on the food thing. Her dad has a restaurant in Camden SC he may come and cook for us (keep your fingers crossed)

I have a few other places that may send something for the event but as of 7/20/06 this is what we have.

We made our reservations. Finally- a hotel that doesn't have the 30 pound weight rule on dogs. My guys won't have to "suck it in" :floor

Haha, don't worry...I feel the same way a bit. My Lucas is well behaved in private, but he is such an attention whore that he is just crazy, lol! And Roxy...well she is just so dang stubborn that she won't listen unless she wants to...ugh! At least they are great dogs, haha!

All the trainers that are going to be there know that 99.9% of the dogs are pets. They won't ask if you want help but if you want to ask them a question do so. They will be there all day (well at least I will)
We won't pass judgment on anything your dog is doing this is a fun day for you and your fur baby.
We are going to have a few demonstrations early in the morning and some fun dog games through out the day, other than that it will be a doggie free for all.

PS if I get to long winded if you ask me a question at the event just slap me in the back of the head and tell me to move on LOL

We just got two big boxes of give away type stuff yesterday, and it wasn't even part of what I was expecting this is totally from a different Co.

We have a local restaurant (well kind of local) that will be selling lunch on Saturday.
If you plan on being there for the training day on Friday you may want to bring a lunch.

Right now we have 38 people and 40 dogs from 9 different states that have said they will be there. I have a bunch of maybes still out there.

Things you will need to bring: water for the dog, water bowl for the dog, leash and collar, camera, sunscreen, a cooler with drinks and a big smile.

Things to think about bringing: Dog crate, lawn chairs, Shade umbrella, dry clothing, towels for pooch (there is a large pond)
I'm sure this list will grow.

If you want to come e mail me the number of people and the number of dogs. thackertrainer@aol.com

Here is the webpage for the event. http://www.thackervilleretrievers.com/LabFest.html

Just a little over two weeks away from Lab fest 2006. It looks like its going to be a good time lots of people and lots of stuff for the pooches to do. I'd like to get a head count if I could. If you have sent a RSVP no need to do it again but if you hadn't made up your mind it's time to do so LOL Let me know CUZ I don't want to come up short on anything.
So bring your cooler, some water for the dogs and join us for a fun filled day.

We do have signs made up so the area around Cooper Black will be marked to get you there. Also I'll be sending directions to all the e mails that have RSVP'ed

E mail me at thackertrainer@aol.com

Thanks

I just talked to the caterer this morning (Sunday 9/17/06) We decided on a southern tradition for lunch Pulled pork, beans, Cole slaw, chips and a dessert. Oh and sweet tea.
Not sure what the price per plate will be somewhere around the $5.00 mark I'm sure. You are more than welcome to bring your own food if you want but understand there is no place to cook it and the closest restaurant is miles away.

We will have a time line of events posted in the next few days.

This is what to look for in the area of the Lab Fest. I'll try and have them at all the major intersections leading to Cooper Black. Also Courtney is going to do directions from Charleston SC, Florence SC, And Columbia SC. You need to find your own way to these places. I'll post the directions here and on the Lab Fest page as soon as I have them.

I've been following this thread since it began in July with the hopes that we will be able to make it. It has been 50/50. The drive is not the problem. It is the fact that I am a teacher and the Junior class advisor at our high school. This is a busy time of the year for me. One week after the lab fest is our homecoming. I have been building a float with the junior class for months and have only missed one meeting. My husband is trying to talk me into taking the day off on Friday so we can drive to SC. Teagan would love it so much. I am going to ask the kids at the meeting today how they feel if I miss the meetings next weekend. If they don't mind and I can get someone to cover for me then we will be coming to the labfest!
