Does anybody have any good recipes they want to share? Lets get a good thread going. I slow cookered up a Chili today to enjoy while I watched the Masters and it turned out so so.

I would be interested in anybody has some slow cooker recipes that they want to share. I've been searching for a homemade Salsa one but not sure what to try out.

Slow Cooker Creole Chicken

1 package boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 package boneless, skinless chicken thighs
1 green pepper, chopped
1 cup diced celery
6 scallions, chopped
16 oz can diced tomatoes
6 oz can tomato paste
1/4 cup cooked ham or back bacon, cubed
1 tsp salt
2 tsp ground pepper
Tabasco sauce, to taste
3/4 lb polish sausage
3 cups cooked rice

Easy!!!

(Note - you can substitute any kind of chicken here. We like the boneless and skinless because it has lower fat and we don't have to deal with the bones.)
In a slow cooker, combine chicken, green pepper, celery, scallions, tomatoes, tomato paste, ham, salt and pepper, Tabasco, and sausage. Stir it up good, put that lid on (no peeking!) and cook on LOW 5 - 6 hours (or longer). Then, crank it up to HIGH and stir in your cooked rice and any additional seasoning to taste. Put the lid back on and let it go for 15 - 30 minutes. Serves 6 - 7. Makes great leftovers, too! Just heat it up in the micro.

J&J's Salsa

4 Roma tomatoes, diced
1/2 cup diced white onion
1 Jalapeno, diced
(leave the seeds in if you like it hot, take 'em out if you don't)
2 tsp. Canola oil
1 tsp. Vinegar
1/4 cup fresh Cilantro leaves, chopped
1 Tbl. Fresh squeezed lime juice
1/2 tsp Oregano
Dash of salt

Combine all ingredients in a non-metallic bowl and mix well. Chill if you like. Serve with oven-warmed tortilla chips. Feel free to improvise with amounts/ingredients. This is how we like it, but it is no sacred cow. We built this from a few different recipes we tried. :D Keeps fine for a week in the fridge in a tightly sealed container.

Thanks, I'm going to try that salsa out during the summer. We have a pretty nice farmers market here where you can buy all sorts of nice stuff.

Looks like your the only one that cooks...

That's just Cooper getting ready for tonight's game. Him and Jagr kind of look alike don't they?

I just came across this site while looking for a BBQ Roast slow cooker recipe. Think I will try this one with a pot roast for Sunday:
http://www.recipegoldmine.com/mbsand/mbsand.html

1 (3 lb.) chuck roast
1 C. water
4 T. vinegar
2 T. Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 tsp. chili powder
Dash seasoned salt
1/2 green pepper, chopped
1/2 bottle hickory barbecue sauce
Kaiser rolls

Place chuck roast in crockpot on LOW in water. Add vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, dash of seasoned salt, and green pepper. Cook on LOW 10 to 12 hours (or high 4 to 5 hours.)

Drain crockpot of liquid, and place roast on a plate. Using two forks, shred meat apart. Return to crockpot, and add 1/2 bottle barbecue sauce. Cook an additional 1 1/2 or until hot.

Serve on Kaiser rolls (or hamburger buns, it is also good on sliced French loaf bread).

Take 16 oz. of frozen chicken breast
16 oz. of fat free sour cream
1 can of Campbells 98% fat free cream of mushroom soup
1 packet of Lipton onion soup mix

Use a slow cooker on low for 7 hours.

Place frozen chicken on bottom cover with mixture from above, and serve over rice or noodles. If you use some sort of beef it is a low cal beef stroganoff over noodles and you can substitute the cream of mushroom for any of campbells 98%fat free soups.

Enjoy

(My great grandma was the pastry chef for Franz Josef, the Emp of Austria-Hungary way back when). I have some great bakery receipes. This one's really easy too (but not as easy as Josh's suggestion!) it's our fav chilli recipe.
1lb lean hamburger cooked & drained
1/2 cup onion, cook with hamburger
1 14oz can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 14oz can tomato sauce
2 14oz cans diced tomatoes
1 14oz can corn
1 8oz can green chiles
1 14oz can water
chilli powder and garlic to taste
Just put all that stuff in the cooker for a couple hours. You don't even have to drain the cans, except the black beans! yum, yum, I think it's lunchtime!!

Brad has a good one....it's sort of like a twist on chili...italian style (he's not italian but I am half so he made this for me and it's a big bite of heaven)....

ITALIAN CHILI

1 3/8 lbs. hot italian sausage, sliced
1 lb. pepperoni sausage, sliced (make sure you take the casing off, Brad, being the non italian he is, left it on the first time:p: )
3 green bell peppers, chopped
2 onions, chopped
2 cups chopped fresh mushrooms
3 cups crushed tomatoes with garlic
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
4 cups water
1 1/2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions:
1 (Before you begin you can brown the meat but it is not necessary) In a large stock pot, place the hot italian sausage, pepperoni, green bell peppers, onion, mushrooms, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste and water. Bring to a boil. Boil 30 minutes, reduce heat and simmer 90 minutes.

2 During the final 15 minutes of cooking, stir in the elbow macaroni.

3 Spoon into bowls, top with mozzarella, and serve. Enjoy!!!!

Hey,
I just found this old thread with recipes. Since a lot of people have joined since June, why don't we get this recipe sharing started again? I love to cook and love new recipes.

(Maybe we could make a cookbook) Something else for Burtman to work on in his spare time

Chicken Pie
1 large chicken, stewed
cream of chicken soup
1 1/2 - 2 cups chicken broth
1 stick melted butter
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup buttermilk
Pick chicken from bones, cut up and place in baking dish. Heat soup and broth. Pour over chicken. Mix butter, flour and buttermilk and spoon over top.

Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until brown.

now that the weather has turned to c-c-c-cold I like to make this chowdah (that's "chowder" for you non-New Englanders). I love this even more on the next day. Serve with some crusty bread.

Corn and Sweet Potato Chowder

1/2 pound (about 8 slices) bacon, coarsely chopped
1 8-ounce sweet potato, peeled, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1 cup chopped onion
3/4 cup chopped celery
2 small bay leaves
2 cups milk
1 10-ounce package frozen corn kernels
1 14 3/4-ounce can creamed corn
1 1/4 cups canned vegetable broth
1/2 cup chopped celery leaves
1/4 teaspoon (or more) hot pepper sauce

Sauté bacon in heavy large pot over medium-high heat until crisp and brown. Using slotted spoon, transfer bacon to paper towels to drain. Pour off all but 2 tablespoons drippings from pot.

Add potato, onion, celery, and bay leaves to pot. Sauté over medium-high heat until vegetables begin to soften, about 5 minutes.

Add milk, frozen corn kernels, creamed corn, and vegetable broth and bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cover and simmer chowder until potato is tender, about 15 minutes.

Add celery leaves, 1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce, and bacon. Simmer chowder uncovered until flavors blend, about 5 minutes.

Season with salt and pepper and more hot pepper sauce, if desired.

The best recipe I have is a Vegetarian like dish.

The night I met my wife 4 ˝ years ago I made her a pasta dish called " Baked Penne and Basil".

I am convinced that this is one of the reasons she fell in Love with me and we joke about it to this day.

We met on the internet back in July 1998. We talked for a few months and decided to meet for dinner one night. No long distance meeting.. Francine lived 10 minutes away from my apartment.

We got married two years to the day of that first meeting in Niagara falls. Small wedding of six people in a little chapel. It was great ! No pressures or stress.

If anyone is interested PM me and I will send the recipe to you. It is really simple to make.
