Hi Everyone,,,

I pretty don't feed her commercial food, except I put like half to a cup commerical dry food mixed with food I make for her. For an example, today, I gave her grinded up chicken that was left over from making chicken stock. I also feed her raw liver, pork feet and etc.

I also gave her two pieces of pork back bone. mostly bone, some cartileges and some meat. However, this thing was ROCK HARD, yet, she ate them in no time. I mean she did chew, but there is no way she could have chewed enough to have broken down everythign. Is that OK? Do they have a special stomach where unbroken raw bone can be digested?

It is not just raw bone, she doesn't really chew chew commercial dry food enough neither. She would bite them a couple of times, and swallow. At this rate, I don't know how I am going to give her anythign to chew on.... she would just swallow.

Should I be concerned about this? It has been about an hour since I fed her, and she is fine. Any suggestion will be appreicated. Thanks

Chance doesn't chew her dry commercial food either, she justs swallows it whole.

With the bone, I wouldn't worry too much. Even though it's hard your girl will chew it down into small enough chunks to digest. If they aren't, she may vomit them back up - but this rarely happens. Don't be shocked if she does, it's just the natural way to tell herself to make it smaller. Also we quite often see bits of bone in Chance's poo.

So long as she's chewing at the bones and not swallowing them whole, she should be alright.

Some dogs tend to gulp and swallow bones and other hard things, our vet, and other more experienced raw feeders than I, say to grind up the bones then.

How's she doing now?

Sweeeeeeeetest thing around, and so smart too. Within past five days she has been with us, she has learned sit, down, come and learning heeling now. She is so cute......
