DF took out filet Sea Bass last night- that he actually caught a few weeks ago- but then decided my BBQ chicken looked better. Since it was already defrosted and nobody was going to eat it I cooked it up (in a frying pan with nothing on it) and cut it up into small pieces and gave it to the dogs mixed in with their food. Is this OK?? Is salt water Sea Bass ok to give them??

The only thing I could find was feeding raw fish was not a good idea at all. I would think since it was cooked and not a huge amount that it's fine.

some dogs eat raw fish but im not sure if that particular type of fish is ok or not. I tried giving duncan raw Talapia (sp?) and he wanted no part of it.

I think sea bass might be higher in mercury (based on pregnancy web sites concerning women and mercury levels during pregnancy)...not sure how this rates with a dog and again...I think the amount would really matter too.
where's zencat (Lisa) when you need her? :)

They were all over it....maybe because it was cooked.
It was only a filet and I split it between 3 dogs.

Even if it is higher in mercury, I think a one time meal isn't going to hurt anything. I think in general all fish is fine for dogs.
Edited to add: I am talking about cooked fish.

Raw Pacific NW salmon is NOT okay though. We are having a discussion about that in the raw forum right now. Other than that, I don't know much about fish in general. :floor All I know is I can feed tilapia, jack mackeral and sardines. :floor
