When we got Dakota, the breeder was soaking her food in water before giving it to her. She is about 10 1/2 weeks old. I have been feeding her 3 cups a day. One cup at each feeding time. I just started this week feeding her 1/2 cup dry & 1/2 cup wet kibble at a time. Any suggestions for when to change her to dry kibble? Also, when do I start feeding her 2 x a day?
Thanks!

I stopped soaking the kibble when Shaggy was about 11 wks and have cut down to 2 meals at 13wks.

We soak our dogs food for their entire lives, it 'helps' to prevent bloat.

We changed at 15 weeks old.

I have soaked Bella's food also because she would gulp it down instead of chewing it so I thought If I would soak it, it might not be as bad. Then I read this article from the Greatdanelady (don't know if it matters or not)

NEVER SOAK or microwave dog food, soaking a food does not prevent bloat, that is a myth and not based in any science. Soaking/cooking this destroys the nutrients and probiotics sprayed on the outside of the kibble and destroying these can cause a nutritional imbalance, suppressed immune systems and actually serious deficiencies in a diet.

I got it from http://www.greatdanelady.com/articles/puppy_guidelines.htm

Like I said I don't know how true it is, but I have read alot on this website as well and stumbbled on it about the soaking food.

I stop soaking the food by 6 weeks. I wet the food throughout the pups/dog's life, but don't soak. You can try switching to twice a day at about 3 months. Keep an eye on the stool. If it gets soft, its prolly too much for the stomach and you might need to go back to 3x again for awhile and try going to twice once the pup has grown a bit.

There is a big difference between soaking and wetting.

Water On Food: Commercial foods need to be fed with moisture so dogs don't over consume water after a meal. If the dog doesn't get enough water with its meal the kibble will pull moisture from the dogs system in order to break down properly. Use tepid temperature water never hot or warm and never soak your food as it breaks down and destroys nutrients. Mix up and feed immediately. I use enough water to thoroughly cover the food (approx. 1/2 cup ) per each meal.

I wet the food for my dogs at each meal but do not soak.
