hi mickey... still cant decide on a food..? is the product your looking at under 2 % calcium...? if not skip it... the best thing you can do is feed the orijen large breed puppy.. i know its expensive.. if you can swing it fot 12 months, do yourself and pup a favor... you can then switch to a food that might be less expensive.. my pup developed just perfectly on the orijen, and i couldnt be more pleased with the orijen product.. good luck

It is an excellent food, not sure how it works for a puppy.

Just remember that every dog is different and will do differently on foods. The above poster said how Orijen is an awesome food, but it was way too rich for my dogs and they did awful on it.

Kirkland puppy food doesn't rate 5 stars but it does rate pretty well and is very affordable

We are finishing up a bag of Chicken Soup puppy and the puppy has done wonderfully w/it. But my older dog not so well...so I'm not sure where we're going from here. It also doesn't rate 5 but rates well

When I read the star system its obviously weighted heavily towards high meat protiens and low grains...not a bad thing -just something to keep in mind

I used to have a nieghbor that was a Solid Gold dealer and I heard wonder stories from his costomers ...but my dog didn't do well w/the food

Solid Gold is a great food. I tried feeding Scout Wolf Cub but it was too rich for him and caused some pretty bad poops. But if you try it and like it then by all means go for it!

We are currently feeding Blue Buffalo chicken and making the switch to California Natural Adult chicken and rice. Blue Buffalo has worked well for us. Lots of energy, Shiny coat, and firm poops.

Good Luck on your decision. It is a very personal one to make and you have to decide what is right for you and your particular pup.

Did you just feed it to her as is? Or are you slowly transitioning from her old food?

That isn't normal for a transition. Start with more old food and just a little new food and then gradually increase the new food and decrease the old food. With a new puppy I would say to transition over 2 weeks...it could be very hard on her tummy.

Also your problem might be that she is going to such a rich food.

If I were you I would go out and buy the smallest bag of Iams you can find. Then you can transition Mickey slowly to the wolf cub. Wolf cub is a very rich food and will be quite a shock after eating Iams. Like others have said you should slowly transition to the new food over 1 to 2 weeks.

buy a small bag of Iams for the transition because if not I am sure you will have regrets.

Its very possible the transition is giving her loose stool, however, my dogs were on the hunden-floken for several months and it was not working for us so we switched to another holisitic food. They had loose stool on and off and went more than ususal, same with our neighbors Shepherd who was eating the Wolf King, and I know every dog is different but just wanted to note my experiences.

If you opt not to go buy a small bag of iams to make the transition easier on her digestive system, at least add some pumpkin to help firm her up. Iams to SGWC is a BIG transition.

You could also use over boiled rice/boiled chicken or hamburger to transition.
