I am really really stressed out at work, along with being very cranky. I am worried about the baby being effected by the stress. Any suggestions on how to calm down? I tried the count to 10 method but am just so fustrated some days that it doesn't work. I work with a bunch of BEEP people that have no communication skills what so ever which effects my job 100%

Just QUIT...or just yell at the top of your lungs (okay that's a joke..I know that isn't an option)

If you get really stressed can you get up and walk around for a minute or two to clear your head? Sorry I can't remember what you do for work. You have hormones raging so that is affecting how you deal with stress as well.

Im sorry its so hard on ya Hallie....Ive been there for sure!! I worked up to delivery with both boys.....and towards the end everyone was getting on my nerves. I would just take a quick break outside or out to my car for a "breather". There were times where I made very clear I needed to get things done and pretty well not to bother me, lol. I know it sounds a little harsh - but it worked!!

Good luck to you my friend!!

Thanks everyone. I am a admin assistant, I answer the main phone line, greet visitors do all that BS and I hate it. I have been here for 6 years and its sooo boring. The only reason I haven't left is because the pay is decent for what I do (I have interviewed with other companies and they aren't willing to pay what I make) :roll2: I would love to go to my car and just take a breather but my boss is never around when you need her the most.

I am running into major trouble tomorrow because I had scheduled my very first OB appointment tomorrow (whoohoo  ) & I told my boss and scheduled my appointment in her calendar so she had no excuses the time I needed to book outta here. Well....she all of a sudden came up with "Oh, I have a offsite meeting to go to & don't know if I will return on time" So, that leaves me using the licensing girls to cover till she decides to return. The girls are upset because they can only cover a hour because their time is needed to take care of the new hires. They tell their supervisor time and time again that they need to find someone else to back them up if gosh forbid neither of them are available at any given time. But they don't seem to care. So that leaves me stuck in the middle once again & I feel horrible and just want to :cry2:.

I understand being stressed! I was so stressed with school it was making my blood pressure start to go up. I dropped some classes and it has gotten better. I have had to walk out of class a few times because people were being stupid and annoying, it I wouldn't have walked out I would have blown up at them! Good luck, just try to stay relaxed and if you need to just walk away.

I cry - literally.....well only 2 times have I broken down at work - which means I head to the ladies room. I don't cry because I'm sad, I cry because I'm so frustrated sometimes and these hormones just leave me a little crazy sometimes.

I also am prone to outbursts such as "WHAT?" "COME ON!" "WHY?!". Not very professional, but everyone in my department suffers from these outbursts.

However, in your position, you can't be doing that. Hmm...I don't really have any brilliant ideas for ya, can you get a stress ball to squeeze or maybe a box of pencils and break them one by one....

About your MD appointment, if you have to leave you have to leave - I would leave and not even think twice about it. Also, your company may want to think about a temp service, especially if you are going to be out of work for any period of time after the baby comes! Who's going to cover then?

I too, get stressed out at work. :o: What I do to help calm me down is to take a break. At times when I can't take a break, I just take it slow and try not to let the phones or other co-workers bother me. I just go to my happy place.. ;) :D

Not for nothing but I assume you earn sick and vacation time. Sick time is for cases like this and if they can't get a fill in for you - oh well. The company will not fall apart when you are gone. I am an admin assist as well and sometimes other ppl think answering the phone, etc is beneath them..they need to suck it up and quit b*tching and just pitch in. I can't get over how the work place is so much about "me" and not about the group working together. Next time you need time off just take the whole day and feel good about it. Really, I would talk to your boss and let her know that you feel put in the middle and that you will have other appts during this pregnancy (does she or anyone else have kids? i mean come on) and that arrangements will need to be made.

I wish I could fill in for you, then again I might tell all those who are so selfish just what I think and you might not have a job. ;)

I agree with Gusjack next appt, take the whole day of and enjoy yourself!
I was under a tremendous amount of stress during my early pregnancy. MY sis and niece royaly screwed me over and literally broke my heart. I bawled hystericly(sp) for weeks. I actually didn't know I was pg at the time. That was probably a good thing, because I would have been even more stressed.
Try not to let work bother you to much. I know easier said than done.
