Anyone ever do the "swinging bridge" in agility? Our trainers says he may "challage" us and teach the dogs in class to do that obsticle.

He also mentioned about setting up a "tunnelers" run and see what the dogs do. I can't wait for that one - I think Keno will love it. She's a lot better in watching my direction (doing jumpers course). I'll apply the same thing to tunnels.

I've never heard of the swinging bridge, but my exposure to Agility is limited. Please tell us about it.

Tunnelers courses are fast--be ready to run! (And have some laughs.)

Yep, the swing plank is used in the UKC (level II). Not too hard to teach...have someone hold it pretty much still the first few times your dog does it. Then start to increase the amount you let it move. All kindsof fun obstacles in UKC: pause box, platform jump, crawl tunnel, hoop tunnel, sway bridge ...

I haven't seen many dogs have trouble with the swing bridge or the sway plank. The swing bridge is longer -- maybe 10 feet long, basically just like the ones on playgrounds. The swing plank is just a short wide plank (like 2-3 feet log) attached at each corners with a chain or cable to a frame. It's kind of hard to describe. Our instructor said to keep the dogs moving on it...as long as they keep moving, the dogs don't seem to have time to get weird about being on a moving object. These obstacles and the others described by DarwinsMom are specific to UKC agility.

Doing a tunnelers run would be FUN!
