At what age do I switch Dozer to adult food? I thought I read somewhere (not on this board) that they stay on puppy food for the first year.

Welcome to the board. Dozer is very cute. You'll find a ton of opinions on this and it usually get's asked once a week. Do a TITLE only search in this forum for the word adult and you'll find a bunch of threads on the topic. Age ranges from never feeding puppy to switching at 3 months to switching at 18 months.

I never have fed puppy food. I think it's a gimmick(Even natural balance thinks that) . I start pure adult food at 8 weeks.

I disagree...usually gimmicks are pure marketing tools. There are actual nutritional differences between puppy and adult foods. Of course, one could argue that those differences result from marketing ploys, but research doesn't support that hypothesis.

I've never fed a puppy food. Luca Bella has been on Innova adult food from the time I brought her home.
Some puppy foods are OK for large breed puppies, some aren't. Some adult foods are OK for large breed puppies, some aren't. It depends on the particular food. Take Innova for example. I don't feel that their puppy food is appropriate for a large breed puppy, but I think their adult food is just fine for such a puppy.

Thanks for the opinions. I will look into it further. He is currently on Wellness puppy food and I have been very pleased with it....back to the research.

My Vet recommended switching (slowly) to adult food at one yrs. of age.
