Hi, I want to share some amazing news about what Caro and I have been up to lately. We established a new reading program with Therapy Dogs at a local elementary school - and (after paperwork and other administrative stuff) we launched our program this week.

We have 4 dogs that participate in this particular program - a yellow - a black and (of course) a chocolate lab, plus a silky terrier.

The principal of this school is thrilled with our registered therapy dog teams and is asking for more participation from us. She wants the dogs to work with the special ed. students - this school has a large autistic population.

I have worked in this type of situation before - last year, we established a similar reading program at another local elementary school.

At this time, we have 2 other elementary schools and a pediatric therapy center that are requesting our dog teams. This is good stuff.

The kids love the dogs and visa versa. We were invited to the school's Halloween parade and our dogs will be there (in costumes). I will try to get pictures to share.

Here is Caro with her friend, Beach Boy. By the way, he is Hogan's (Rosie's wonderful boy) littermate.

This is a great program. My Pembroke Welsh Corgi and I do this at the elementary school here in Abilene, Texas. The kids have so much fun and the dogs love it. I of course will get my lab in there eventually. He'll be taking the test next year.

Very cool way to reach reluctant readers.
Pam (PamandBrandy) told me about this program & I'm really intrigued.

My dogs would not behave well enough for it. Fudge would be too excited to see all the kids & Tia would be afraid of the floor...but, I'm looking into it, though!

Congratulations! I think it's great :)
