I don't usually try to bathe Emmy myself because it's quite a fiasco. All she wants to do is "bite" at the water as it comes out of the hose! It's such a hassle - this is why I usually drop her off at the vet's for a bath.
Anyone have any tips for bathing my super-playful dog? Also, how often should I bathe her?

Bathe her as little as possible. Bathing to frequently will break down the oils in the skin and fur causing dry skin conditions. Now when I say bathing I mean any type of bathing with soap. Regular water is ok to rinse them down with after they play in the mud or anything dirty. I rinse Anubis off in the shower. She seems to enjoy the fact that Dad gets into his shorts and climbs in to do this! She likes that!

three times a year. When we first got her, the breeder told us that was sufficient. We rinse her off with plain water more frequently than that, and even after a good rinsing her coat gets shiny.
You're lucky you can put your Lab in the tub - we'd have to remodel our bathroom if we tried to do that with Emmy. She's like a bull in a China shop! She's sweet, but so clumsy. :p:

How about getting a kiddie pool, filling it with some water and that way she'll be distracted by the hose when you try to rinse her off. Lucky for us our Jack will get in when ANYONE is in the shower...but he likes to eat the bars of soap!
