As we all know, trail mixes are not universal...so a person can add what he or she pleases...Many years ago I found a generic recipe in Canadian Living magazine & it's a good place to really build.
Ingredients:
2 egg whites
1 tbsp chili powder
2 tsp of garlic powder
1 tsp of cumin
1 3/4 cups of corn Chex
1 3/4 cups of Shreddies
1/2 cup of pumpkin seeds
1/2 cup of unblanched almonds
2/3 cup of raisins
(I added some other dried fruits, too)
Beat your egg whites until peaks form
Fold in your chili & garlic powders & your cumin
Stir in your cereal, seeds & nuts to coat
Spread on a non-stick baking sheet
Bake at 350 for about 15-18mins.
Stir every 5 mins.
Add raisins last & other dried fruit if you opted for it
Cool completely before serving.
