penny - besides the volunteer driver list on acme.. check the drivers & flyers available section. Quite a few people going on vacation have offer to take a 4-legged passenger along for the ride - at times that can be almost the whole trip or a good portion of the transport.

Email all those people in the volunter driver list - I know we have quite a few in VA

good luck! :)

If we can't get volunteer drivers, doesn't the puppy bus take this route? Is donating the fee an option for anyone to help Onyx?

Hi everyone. Just talked to Joan at the shelter about this. There is a transport bus that leave Memphis every Thursday after lunch. They're names are Kyle and Pam. The number is 615-218-1589. The shelter has used this bus to get dogs to their forever homes. It's a very reputable transport business. It's from Memphis all the way to Maryland. They charge a fee of $100 plus the dog has to have a health certificate. They would arrive in Maryland on Saturday evening. Joan would pay for her health certificate. I would chip in $25 toward her passage. What does everyone else think.

I can help with some money also- this is wayyy west of me so I wouldn't be able to help with the transport. Please let me know if the bus is an option and if so where to send the money.
Thanks!

I am not having very many offers to drive and another transport along the same route was just cancelled due to lack of drivers. I think I mentioned the puppy bus in Onyx's original thread as an option and it may be the best bet to get Onyx to Maryland. Do what you think is best but I do not see this transport being filled for this weekend. It may be a possibility for the following weekend but I can't say it will fill then either. You won't hurt my feelings any if she goes on the bus...I just want to see her safe and happy in a home.

Hey Penny, just e-mailed you an update for Onyx. Thanks again for trying to get the transport together for her. I know it's been hard to find people because of the gas prices being so high, but I've contacted Pam for the puppy bus. Onyx should be on her way to Charlene next week Thursday. Keep your fingers crossed.

Like I said before, Linda is not charging us a pull fee for Onyx. It's just going to cost the $100 for her transport. I'll take care of this.

Thanks to all for your help and for all the thoughts and prayers for Onyx. I'll keep you posted.

Susan
