View Full Version : Trigger words for new threads

First off, this bb has been so helpful to me as an adult lab owner and very fun and interesting. I'm an addict!

Anywho, I sometimes see a lot of threads that are focused around the same topic. Sometimes a little different wording and sometimes in a different category. Not everyone thinks to do a search.

Is it possible to have the bb set up to where if I post a "shedding" thread and someone has posted one for "help with shedding" a message will come up saying that topic was covered? Or put some type of reminder when you log on to search for that topic first, before submitting a new thread?

Or if it is a specific topic (feeding, spaying, skin rash, shedding, jumping) we could get everyone to use key words and for the other run of the mill/fun stuff just title it as you wish.

Sorry for bantering! Just a thought....!

Not bantering ... that's an interesting thought, but I'd bet it's next to impossible. I believe Burtman sends new members a welcome message and suggests doing a search when they're new. Most topics have been covered more than once, especially biting, jumping, shedding, and housebreaking. :D

I think adding that function would be beyond my computer abilities.;) I added a bit to the Welcome PM about using the Search Function.

The Mods and I discussed the fact that posts are made on the same subjects. It's still a nice way for somebody to break the ice, say hello and post a message. Maybe when I get a chance I will make a new forum with a listing of "Hall of Fame" type threads but I haven't decided on how to go about it yet.
