Anyone going? I'm going tomorrow night! Can't wait! I think the guy they cast as Edward is PERFECT! (loved him in Harry Potter too) It'll probably be my little group with a bunch of teenage girls, but I don't care!!

Haha I'll be there -- I have tickets for the 12:01 show tonight!

It will definitely be me and a group of teenage girls... and my darling BF since I'm dragging him along! He's such a good sport :p:

I have to go when I am prepared to seperate the book from the movie. Unfortunately the previews aren't very exciting IMO except maybe the action scenes. I wish they would have picked a different Edward.

We're going to see this weekend but my friend is the same way. She's hesitant to see the movie because she doesn't want it to ruin the book. And she also said the Edward she has pictured in her head is a lot hotter than the one they picked and she doesn't want it replaced by this guy. She's totally into this series, read all 4 books, multiple times I'm sure.

I don't expect that the movie will be anything like the book, but I hope it is at least enjoyable. I've never liked a movie as much as the book it was based on, so I'm going in with expectations that it is just enjoyable. I feel like the guy playing Edward was a good choice. I'm pretty sure it would be hard to cast a "human" to be as hot as the book made Edward sound!! :D The girl they cast as Bella is not what I would have pictured, but what do you do.

Alright, back and woke up from the mid-afternoon nap... Didn't make it back home until 3 am last night, and I had an 8am class! I don't know when I got too 'old' to be doing stuff like that :)

Anyway, I liked it a lot more than I was expecting to like it. It really does not take itself too seriously - and I really enjoyed the awkward-type humor. I also liked the Forks High School kids more than I liked them in the book.

I do wish that they spent more time with the Cullen family because Alice and Carlisle are really my favorite characters.

Anyway, would love to hear what everyone else thinks :)

I just got back from seeing it. I'm not a big Robert Pattinson fan, but I thought he did great as Edward. The movie isn't a whole lot like the book, but they did capture Edward and Bella and the basic story line. I was happy with it, (and I don't separate the books from movies well either).

My DD went with friends to the midnight opening last night... they've read all the books and did not like the movie at all.

'Saw it today. 'thought Pattison did a pretty good job showing his conflict without totally going overboard. I thought Stewart was depressing throughout the whole thing and didn't show much range in emotion, but I guess that's what Bella is supposed to be.

I'm looking forward to the next installment to see the development of Alice. I really like the character in the books and I thought the actress was perfect.
'was expecting Rosemary to be more strikingly beautiful though.

I think the movie took alot of assumptions - that the audience had already read the books. I went with 2 moms who hadn't read them and they were sorta lost.

I liked the movie. Though I wouldn't classify Robert Pattison as a great actor, he filled the role well and was easy on the eyes. I didn't like the guy they cast as Jacob, but it was just b/c it was not quite how I pictured him, I guess. It was a little corny sometimes, but overall I thought it was a good movie. It made $71 million this weekend, so the studio has green lighted the sequel!

I think it was a corny/cheesy portrayal of Twilight but I liked it. I wish they would have shown some of the scenes that were missing but it's hard to fit all the scenes into a movie without making it drag on forever, so they did pretty good. It wasn't quite what I expected but it was good enough. As always, the book was far better and if you hadn't read the book before, I think you'd be a bit lost (I know my friend that I forced to go along with me was).

It wasn't the worst movie. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I can't say I would have been lost if I hadn't read the book, but perhaps I might not have understood some of the things...anyway, just had to say that Edward is some serious eye candy!

I am so a Twilight Mom and my DD (age 9) is too young to read the books yet! I really enjoyed the scene where they were cooking Bella dinner. I thought that captured some of the essence of the book - Cullen family thing.

I finally finished the book late last week. And went to see the movie yesterday. I was soooooo disappointed. (At least I paid matinee prices!) That was the worst acting ever! I will be starting New Moon soon. I cannot say that I will go see that movie when it comes out.

I couldn't agree more. I actually yawned throughout it and felt embarassed to be there because it felt like a cheesy teenage romance and I didn't get that feeling from the book...

Good, I hope I can add myself to that list.

On that note, I started New Moon tonight...sigh...

I saw it last weekend. If you can seperate yourself from expecting the book and just enjoy the movie it was ok. I loved certain things and certain things were really poorly delivered. Typical of a movie based on a book. I was hoping and expecting more of a "Matrix" type action but I was glad I went to see it.

I enjoyed the movie Wednesday, but the book was certainly MUCH better. If I had seen the movie before I read the book, the movie would not make me want to read the book. I couldn't believe how much was not only left out (obviously necessary for time purposes), but completely DIFFERENT in the movie. SPOILERS AHEAD!!! I was really amazed by the scene in the book where Jacob Black and his dad show up to Bella's house when Edward had been there, and they go inside with Bella while Charlie isn't home and Billy has that whole long talk with her about Edward. In the movie, Charlie is home at that point and the talk doesn't even happen. I just thought that was a really important part in the book, and it wasn't even included in the movie. Then the whole fight scene at the end...in the book, Bella is unconscious when Edward shows up to save her, after already having been smashed into a mirror resulting in her head being cut open. In the movie, she's perfectly fine minus her leg and the bite on her hand when Edward shows up, and HE is the one that gets thrown into the mirror and everything. I just thought it was odd how much they changed that whole entire part.

I saw it last weekend and I actually really liked it. I'm already looking forward to seeing it again when my friend comes home from London tomorrow. I thought it was pretty good for an adaptation to film. Of course the book's always better, but I thought they did a pretty good job. I was disappointed that they cut out a lot of the scenes, especially where it showed Bella and Charlie going out to eat a lot, where an important point in the book was that Bella was the responsible one and she always cooked. But overall I liked it a lot.

Oh, and for the fight scene at the end, I think they just wanted to end it with a fight there. In the book since Bella's unconscious and it's in her point of view you don't really get to see the fight, but here they wanted to show it all. I guess Bella still could have been unconscious, but maybe they wanted to show Bella's reaction to Edward coming to save her.

Oh and I forgot to mention in my last post that I read they've gone with a new director for New Moon, who they feel will stick more closely to the book.

Thought the acting could use some work. When Bella sat next to Edward in class the first time, his reaction was REALLY weird, like he was going to vomit, not like she was irresistable. But I still enjoyed the movie and am now halfway through New Moon with the last two books sitting on the kitchen bar waiting for me to read them as well! I'm excited about the movie for New Moon and the others though. Movies never live up to the book, you just can't get the detail in a movie the same way!

I thought that was right on though. He didn't know he would react like that to someone and he was horrified at his intense reaction and that he might expose himself in front of everyone...at least that was how I took it. You are right though. The delivery was rough at times although I thought he had an appropriate intensity about him.
