I have read many do's, and dont's on feeding vegetables. I'm curious to hear yall's out right opinions on vegetables. Such as Tomatoes, Carrots, and Green Beans or any others. I have just heard so many yes and no's to the same vegetables. Also, I would only plan to feed vegetables occasionally. I'am learning so much from this Forum, and love it. Thanks in Advance...

Oh, we have hundreds of threads on this if you search! :)

Tomatoes, no, only because they may be linked to exacerbating inflammation or arthiritic symptoms.

Carrots and Green beans yes, (provided you belong to the school that belives dogs should even have carbohydrates, that's a whole other post!).

Raisins and grapes no
Sweet potato and broccoli yes

I just spent like 30 minutes looking for that thread, Pru. I thought you had started it, but after scouring through all of your Started Threads.. I realized, you hadn't.

I'm still looking.. it was a good site.

Aside from avoiding onions and raisins/grapes, I wouldn't hesitate to feed almost any other vegetable, provided you do it with variety and moderation. Heck, even tomatoes, which, as stated above, "may be linked to exacerbating inflammation or arthiritic symptoms" aren't going to be bad if you feed a slice here and there intermittently.

Consider this: Aside from a few things like chocolate, which contains a compound that dogs don't excrete properly and which becomes toxic in large enough quanties, I wouldn't hesitate to feed almost anything else, provided, and this is key, that it's all in moderation, variety, and with common sense.

I mean, as far as tomatoes, I wouldn't feed a whole tomatoe, and I wouldn't feed pieces of tomatoe intentionally either. But a slice of leftover pizza with tomatoe sauce on it once in a while isn't going to be any big deal, (provided you have a dog free of cheese alergies. ) Or some leftover spaghetti with some tomatoe sauce on it isn't going to do any harm either.
