I have an 8wk old Lab male named Max. Just took him to the Vet and he weighed 13lbs. The vet said this is an ok weight. Max looks a little skinny....Just wondering what you all thought.. Is this a good weight or not? Thanks in Advance...

Cody was about 14 pounds at 8 weeks, sounds like your pup is right on track.

Kipling was a little guy. At 8 weeks he weighed 9 1/2 pounds. He'll be 6 months a week from today and he weighs 52.6 pounds.

Bailey weighed about 12 pounds at 8 weeks. He is now 6 and 1/2 months and weighs around 57 pounds.

Your puppy seems about normal.

Cody is 16 weeks and about 34 pounds. He gains about 2 pounds a week. I'm like you, just dying to find out how big he'll end up being. His mom is 95 lb and his dad is 75 lb, so I think he'll end up around 80 or so.

We took our chocolate lab puppies (9 wks) to weigh in at the vet today. Caddis weighed in at 18.4 lbs, and Chehalis weighed in at 18.6 lbs.

I'll just throw a metric twist into this thread.

Gibson was 4.0 Kilograms at 50 Days old. At 11 weeks he was 9.1 KG and at 12 weeks he had gained 5 lbs to 11.36KG.

The vet thought he was doing just fine also. Its hard to believe he has trippled his weight on only 12 weeks. I have been away a couple of times since we got him and notice a huge difference in him after being away only a few days.

His Dad is about 75 lbs and Mom a little less.

Does anyone know at what age they stop growing. I understand they will fill out over the next couple of years but am curious when the dramatic gains stop.

You'll notice the pup's growth slowing down around 7-8 month. By 1 year, they should basically be the height they'll be as full adults. They continue to fill out for another year or so. Hudler put on about 10 pounds from 1 year to 2 1/2, and now he's 90#.

13# for 8 weeks sounds about right. I forget, even with Maddy who is only a year now, what their weights were while they were growing up.

Maddy was 8# at 7 weeks. I think Hudler was 12# at 7 weeks.

Savannah was about 11 pounds at 8 weeks. She was 35 pounds at 20 weeks. She went through a real growth spurt around 16-20 weeks.

when i got jake he was 3months and i for got ,mabe 25lb.he weighs now 60 or over.his dad weighed 90lb..send a picture.dana

Max was abt 12 lbs.. at 7 weeks.. and the vet promptly put him on a diet.. and now that hes 11.2 weeks he weighs abt 15 lbs.. and the vet finally seemed happy.. so am sure ur puppy is doing fine too.
