I am trying to switch Rocky from Blue.So i went to this store to check out foods. i looked at Merrick, TOTW,Evo and ask the lady there if they carry Orijen, her response was that, she wouldnt buy it because its Canadian and i should only buy American made food. i really dont care where the foods are made, i just want whats good for my boy, even if its made on a different planet.

And by the way i didnt tell her that I AM CANADIAN. Well i got my food elsewhere and about $5. cheaper.

That is weird...funny because here in Canada we carry all of the American foods...

That lady sounds rude. Telling you that you should only buy American made products.

Oh brother - but, you know there are people that feel we should only buy American made cars. Well, my feeling is I buy what is a good product no matter where it is made.

I'm glad you took your business elsewhere. Canadian-based Champion Pet Foods (Orijen, Acana) and U.S. Natura are my two favorite companies right now. I've also been interested in the Canadian Horizon line. Last summer they said they were planning US distribution, but it hasn't happened yet.

I agree that you should buy dog food from whatever country you want, but not from China.

she said that like canada is the enemy, i could see if the food was made in some poor country where it could be tainted and carry disease.....

She probably thinks it is made out of polar bears and baby seals.

Nothing wrong with her preferring to carry american brands in her store. Not many stores do carry Orijen (none in my area) and I've yet to come across one who carries Acana. If they don't have what you want, nothing's stopping you from going elsewhere ;)

Nothing wrong with her preferring to carry american brands in her store.

But everything wrong with talking to a potential customer like that. THAT is how you lose business - because then that customer tells their friends and they tell their friends... She can carry whatever food she wants, but she better be polite.

Quite rude, imo, to tell you that you should only buy American. I think the story would have been better if you told her that YOU were Canadian and see what she'd say to that! :teehee:
