John and I went to the zoo today and I used my new lens on the animals for practice :) I loved seeing the animals, and I got a few shots that I am really happy with :)

Thanks everyone :) Some were through glass so it was hard to get a good shot (or through a wire fence) but it was definately a fun place to practice.

I said it in the other thread but I'll say it again...I think I might try this lens instead of spending the extra on the Canon version after seeing these pics. ;)

Wow..thanks! That is a great compliment. This is an awesome lens and definately cheaper! I told the people at my camera store that I wanted the 70-300 APO Macro and they rang up the canon and it came to $1250  When I said I wanted Sigma it came to $270 CDN..much better :floor

Tracey,

Did you see the Snow Leopards? When I was in Calgary Monday one of the people at our meeting had been out to the zoo on Sunday and she got to see them eating fresh rabbits (not live). She said it was cool seeing the leopards out and about doing their natural thing.

I told her if she wanted to just see animals eating rabbits she could come watch Faith and Callie eat supper :) I said it would be more fun if they were alive and they had to catch them too.

I didn't even know the zoo was open to the public in the winter. It's a great zoo and I'll be taking my camera there for sure this summer.

Cheers, Shayne

I love the zoo!

luckily, I get to go once a year with my class, but if I had kids of my own - we would be there all the time.

I love your pics! Ostriches are so neat!
