I have an idea that I think could be helpful to others but might take a bit of work to create either a forum section or some stickies or something, so that they don't get buried and are easy to find/add to. It would require the help of the board as a whole, but I think collectively we could create something really unique and super helpful.
I noticed since moving that I no longer have my favorite dog friendly places to go, and I have no idea where to find them here. I have tried searching on the internet but there is really nothing like getting to know a place from someone who has already found a nice, dog friendly, hopefully off leash place with responsible owners (this part is key).
I was wondering if we could start a thread for each state and in it we could all add our own sort of 'secret getaways' we like to take our dogs, maybe off the beaten path or something that you have found to be the perfect place to go exercise your pups.
I could start with a few of the places I enjoyed going in CA Central Coast...and would really like to see what others have to say about the area I am in now...plus for all the traveling we do it would be nice to know about dog friendly places to stop wherever we are.
Does this sound like something we could all get in on? It would really only be worth it for Woody to create if we all could contribute something.

This is a really neat idea! It would be cool if there was a sub forum for each state and then threads could be started for different cities and everyone can post their dog friendly spots.

I agree it's a good idea. Katie was asking me the other day of places around here that I like to take the dogs to. We only live about an hour from each other.

Thanks! I think it would also be a nice draw to bring in new members as well. I like sites like yelp and dog friendly to get me started but those sites only list obvious dog friendly places, not areas that people don't think to go to. Plus I like to go to places where I know I can trust the other people/dogs that are going there. Even if it is a popular dog park, maybe list times when it's fairly empty?
And sometimes when you go hiking you aren't sure what trails to take, or maybe there is a beach or lake somewhere, maybe an easier route to something.

Great idea! I'm traveling to Denver soon and this would be helpful!

If a post is started in a forum and you want it to be a sticky, just let me know, I can change it so it stays at the top.

Would be nice if it were viewable only to registered logged in members, not the whole dog world googling where to take their pups. Some places I take Lucy to would no longer be available if hoards of dogs start frequenting. Fences, signs, barriers, park rangers might start showing up.
