Bad year turned good!

MY daughter and her husband have had more than their share of bad luck this year. In April Jenny miscarried which was such a distressing time and threw them off kilter for a while. Then in July as some of you know, their litle girl Matilda broke her thigh bone, which resulted in almost 5 weeks of being tied to hospital with her while she was in traction. Then Lee got the news that his company was downsizing and redundancies were on the horizon. He had already had his hours cut and they were struggling financialy. (They've been in their own home for 2 years now and a huge chunk of their income goes on the mortgage, so you can imagine their worries.)

Well completely out of the blue Lee received an offer of an interview with another company who'd seen his resume on the internet and liked what they saw. This week he started working for them. Better company. More money. Closer to home. Bigger contracts and more prospects. (He's a civil engineer - a profession which has been badly hit by the recession because of the repurcussions in the building trade, but this company seems to be going from strength to strength).
And Jenny is almost 10 weeks pregnant!! She's being closely monitored because of her problems last time and has already had 2 scans, both of which show a healthy foetus progressing as it should.
And Matilda is now running jumping dancing and skipping as good as any other 2 year old!!

I'm so happy things have turned around for them. They were ready for a dose of good luck and along it came!

My motto in life is "you just never know what's going to happen next". This time, it's all good! How wonderful for all of you.

What a year.

Congrats to everyone involved!! I'm also a civil and have been out of work for 6 months now. So, I know what the job market is like for that field... dead!! I just got a job offer last week, so I'll be starting work in January for the new company and I can't wait. I hope everything goes smooth for the next 9 months or so with the pregnancy and there's a new baby in your family next year!!

That must be such a relief to you to have found work after 6 months! Good luck in your new job. Lee is very fortunate to have found an alternative before the axe fell.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes. Jenny miscarried early last time. The foetus didn't develop properly and stopped growing at around 6 weeks. She was just unlucky - it happens. Now she's reached 10 weeks with everything looking ok we're feeling a lot more confident this time. Hopefully I'll be sharing news of the birth next June!
It's true you never do know what's going to happen next, and Lee's job offer coming completely out of the blue like it did was the best news they could have had! Being made redundant with a pregnant wife, a small child and a mortgage to pay would have been a toughie to say the least. He deserves it. He's a good husband and a great dad and works so hard to support them all.

I'm a firm believer in the motto...out of everything negative comes something positive.

Glad things are looking up for everyone....and best wishes for a healthy pregnancy for your daughter.
