Place thinly sliced pieces of sweet potato or yams on an aluminum foil lined cookie sheet in an oven on Warm for eight hours or so. When they're no longer sticky, they're done. No need to buy a dehydrator or refrigerate. I do this overnight on cooler nights. Works beautifully.

A recipe I used to make but takes a bit of time is to puree beef liver and a couple of eggs in a food processor, mix in chickpea flour until it's a little stiff, spread the mixture on an aluminum lined cookie sheet and bake 15 minutes at 300 degrees F. These treats freeze well.

I made Mocha Frosty Paws, a cake and muffins for his birthday. For pictures, see Mocha's birthday pictures 2..

For the Frosty Paws, I use 1/2 quart Light and Fit Vanilla yogurt, 1/2 banana 1/4 cup peanut butter. Mix all together and freeze. For his birthday, I put them in the red 'shot size' solo cup with a small dog treat on top. For "regular treats" I put them in an ice cube tray.

I used the same cake recipe for his birthday cake and muffins. For the muffins, I used a bone-shaped muffin tin. I used about 1/2 the batter for muffins and baked them about 15 minutes. I used the rest of the batter in a small (6"?) cake pan and baked it for 30 minutes.

For the icing, I used 4 oz of cream cheese and mixed in vanilla yogurt until it was an icing consistency. I swirled a little blue food coloring top and voila!

    I got the cake/muffin recipe from Allrecipes.com. https://allrecipes.com/Recipe-Tools/P...6&metric=false

    INGREDIENTS:
    1 egg
    1/4 cup peanut butter
    1/4 cup cooking oil
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1/3 cup honey (optional)
    1 cup shredded carrots
1 cup whole wheat or white flour
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    DIRECTIONS:
    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 6 cup ring mold. (I used a small cake pan)
    2. Combine the egg, peanut butter, oil, vanilla, and honey, if desired, in a large bowl; blend well. Stir in the carrots and mix thoroughly. Sift together the flour and baking soda and fold into the carrot mixture. Spoon cake batter into prepared pan.
    3. Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes. Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes; then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely. (I baked for 30 minutes)

For the ultimate lazy baby carrots can't be beat.

I make liver brownies on occasion although they make the house a bit stinky.

Here's one Jessie adores & so do her friends. A bit of work but makes lots, store well & worth the effort.

    Pumpkin Biscotti Dog Treats

1 small can pumpkin (not pie) ,
    1 Tbsp. honey or molasses
    1/4 cup water
    2 tbsp. canola oil
    1 large egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 cups all purpose flour
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. baking soda

    Heat oven to 350F.
In large bowl whisk pumpkin, honey, water, oil, egg & vanilla. Stir in flour, cinnamon,bk.powder & soda until well mixed.
In bowl & using hands, knead until dough holds together. Move to lightly flouredsurface & divide dough into two equal pieces.
Shape each into a log.Flatten logs to about 4 inches wide. Poke holes with a fork all over the surfaceof the logs.
Place about 4 inches apart onbaking sheet. Bake 35-40 minutes oruntil firm
Cool on rack for 30minutes.Reduce oven to 300F.
With sharp knife cut each logcrosswise into ¼ inch thick slices. Put cut side down on bakingsheets about ½ inch apart.Bake another30 minutes or until completely hard.
NOTE: I find it takes a bit more baking to be sure they're hard enough. Sometimes close to 45 minutes or so.

This is the recipe for Bobby's treats:

    Bobby’s Biscuits

    Adapted from The Daily Puppy
Dog Biscuits Made with White Flour | Dog Care - The Daily Puppy

    180g rolled oats
155g rye flour (or wholemeal/white/barley/oat flour)
    3 heaped tsp dried parsley
    1 large egg
125ml stock (from a cube is fine)*

Put oats in a food processor and pulse until it resembles flour. Add rye flour, parsley and egg and pulse until combined. Whilst pulsing, gradually add stock until flour forms a dough. You may need more or less water.
Lightly dust the work area and rolling pin with flour. Transfer dough onto the floured surface and gently knead until it comes together. Roll out dough thinly (approx 2-3mm) and cut with a floured cutter. Alternatively pinch dough, roll into balls and flatten with your palm or rolling pin.

Bake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees celcius (fan forced) for 20-25 minutes. The biscuits should be crispy.

Cool and store in an airtight bag or container.

*Instead of stock, you may also use mashed pumpkin or sweet potato. Add as required to form a dough.
