    Raw turkey necks

We source the fresh turkey product for the restaurant where I work from a local farm. I asked the farm owner about turkey necks, and she's going to give me a few to try for free. My question is how often can I feed one of these? They are fed raw too I would assume???

I use them as part of a meal for my raw fed dogs. My husband cuts eat neck into 4-5 pieces (the ones I got were HUGE). I would give them as part of the meal, maybe 2 pieces with additional muscle meat. For a kibble fed dog as a treat, I might do 1/2 a neck once a week, feed it raw and I have heard some feed it frozen.

You can PM Shelley too, I think she feeds them as treats.

If they are adult tom size they will be close to a lb and huge...I cut those in half and usually each half is about meal sized for mine. Young hen size are about 8oz, and I feed those whole as is for a meal. The necks that come with thanksgiving turkeys can be even a bit smaller. Depending on if your dog is a chewer or gulper, be careful about cutting the pieces too small to where they could be a choking hazard. And I'd start with one neck a week and would not feed more than a 12-16oz a week of turkey neck, they are very boney and can cause constipation

I often feed turkey necks to my Bucky. What I do is I'd buy 10 pounds from the local butcher, cook them in a pressure tight pot so that they get properly boiled and make a nice broth alongside. Then I'd mix them with some other stuff and let Bucky vacuum the hell outta them. 10 pounds that is of course for more than one meal, lol. But I divide them in several packages and put the ones that are for the future in the freezer. These are when we feel like it's time for some variety or a special treat. Btw, the broth gets so good that makes me wanna eat some every time.

Turkey necks are great for teeth cleaning, and also a great source of glucosamine. I feed them maybe twice a month, and always add some organs, because there's too much bone in them and Cookie poops rocks.

I feed raw tom turkey necks to my dogs. I buy a few at a time from my local butcher and wrap them in plastic wrap individually before stuffing them all into a ziploc that goes into the freezer. I will take them out to defrost usually the day of. I have to hand feed my older boy because he's a gulper, but my younger boy will eat his outside just fine without assistance. They will eat these large necks in lieu of a meal.

Like Jen said I feed turkey necks a few times a month. I feed them defrosted and whole, but you have to teach them how to eat them the first couple of times, so they chew and grind, and not just crunch and try to swallow. Like Daos has to do with Reign, I hold them while they gnaw on one end the first few times. If the necks are really big, I add a couple of raw eggs and use it as a substitute meal instead of kibble, but just for the adults. I don't let a puppy try a turkey neck until their adult teeth are in and they are around 7-8 months old or so. Our dog teeth are clean and sparkly, and the turkey necks don't break teeth like marrow bones and the really hard nylabone type bones.
