    coconut milk/coconut oil

I have some small cans of coconut milk and cream in the cupboard and was wondering whether I could give a teaspoon to my lab....I don't plan on giving it regularly, I just have no plan on using them for myself and won't be buying anymore...I just want to use them up.

Anyone given this? any ideas? I know some people give coconut oil but the milk/cream I imagine would be perhaps too rich?

A teaspoon should be harmless. I think you could probably give up to a measured tablespoon (assuming your dog is typical lab sized) without any problems. Actually it would make a good kong stopper if frozen.

Brilliant idea.....actually what I will do is freeze some in ice cube trays and then store in freezer as random addition to her meal until finished.

Hey!! I haven´t read this until now, if you see some of my recipes in the natural food photos thread you can see i have given my dog coconut oil. I put in his food 1 t/s, not everyday, sometimes i alternate with extra virgin olive oil. I´m not an expert, but i would say raw coconut oil is super good imo, and in the case of coconut milk, in case it´s industrial coconut milk i would make sure it doesn´t have preservatives, salt or sugar and other "unpure" ingredients, if we are talking about organic coconut oil , imho, i wouldn´t see any problem putting a dash of it in its food. Hope it helps let me provide you a link of some info i just randomly found 10 Proven Health Benefits of Coconut Oil (No. 3 is Best)

About a year ago there was a lot of talk of coconut oil fish oil given to help with dry skin / itchies.

Coconut oil melts at 73 degrees so I use fish oil in the summer.
