I think he would have eaten more but it was very hot out there, lol. Dodger hates being hot.

Interesting, never heard of any of these. I used to feed twice a day, but when he started becoming miserable with his evening meal, I stopped feeding the morning meal (only because I have more time in the evenings). As for digestive juices, I guess it depends on the dog. Mine is fed after we get home from our last walk in the evening, and it's about the same time every day. However, sometimes I have to cook more veggies, and it takes time, so his dinner may be 2-3 hours late. Never had an issue.

I don't feed pork because raw pork is a serious concern where I live (Aujeszky's disease). If I was to feed pork, I'd have to cook the meat. Still, my dog has great muscles and great stamina for his age. Since raw pork is okay where you live, do feed it, but make sure that you feed other protein sources as well. Variety is the key to a healthy raw fed dog. I can't help but wonder whether the food you have bought contains mainly pork? Sounds like advertisement to me.

Now my Vet has replied and she does not agree with most of what the site says. She prefers two meals a day and says that now that Oban is used to two going to one might not sit well with him either. She says, as the site reply says too, that only some dogs will vomit the bile. If you have such a dog, Vet says, then you address that but most are ok. The website makes it sound like most dogs will have this vomit problem if a meal is late. She is not aware of pork having any special muscle building powers that other meats have less of. She is ok with feeding a variety of meats. She is ok with raw pork too as we do now have good meat inspection in Canada (despite media of a year or so ago) as long as I wash my hands, which I do after handling kibble, canned or any food of our own too. The sample I got is chicken, according to the package, but it is a very red colour. Hmmmm. Pork is likely to be cheap this winter as Putin has stopped Canadian pork imports into Russia and Canadian pork producers will need to get rid of their supply.

Interesting how that works, our pork prices have been on the rise since summer! There was some virus killing piglets in the US, causing there to be a shortage of pigs I guess. If Canada has extra pork, we'll take it if we can have our prices go back down, lol.

Your vet sounds knowledgeable, that website sounds goofy.

We have been watching the price of all meat go up and up! We were told that it was due to the bad corn crop. I plan to load up on turkey when it goes on sale around Thanksgiving.

I call hogwash...on all of it.

Dogs tend to get empty tummy issues with raw or fresh food diets because these diets digest at a MUCH faster rate.

Neither of mine get the *obvious* empty tummy delivery - however I can tell when they are VERY hungry.

As to the same meal time everyday - for the most part, but not always. It can very by an hour or more, depending upon what we're doing.

These guys get fed twice a day, no question. If we're camping, hiking, boating, etc, then they'll get up to 3 meals a day.

Can't imagine only feeding them once a day - we eat at least twice a day, don't we?
