Anyone Feeding Primal Frozen Raw Formulas?

Hi, everyone! Is anyone feeding their dear ones Primal Frozen Raw formulas (I did a site search and it came up empty)? If so, I would love to hear your experience.

After a long string of health issues with our 6 month old girl, we recently switched Ellie off the vet scripted Royal Canin hypoallergenic venison & potato dry kibble to Primal Duck Raw Formula. At the time, she was increasingly underweight, had never ending irritated gut issues and loose stools, and was scratching non-stop (her yellow coat looked ratty and sparse, just awful). It's been two weeks now and I am floored by the change in her health. Ellie's poops are now small and firm and she has gained enough weight so that her anterior ribs are no longer so visible. She is still scratching, but with much less frequency and her coat is already improving. She is also no longer constantly hoovering the floor for something/anything to eat.

I am going to admit up front that I was a raw food skeptic and as a germaphobe with a science background, I really resisted the notion of "raw" anything, but her health is undeniable and the only thing we've changed is her food. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a common experience with the transition to commercial raw formulas? As a raw newbie, is there anything I have to be aware of to keep Ellie's humans safe from food borne illness?

Primal is a great choice for comercal raw. I fed it for a couple months before switching to do it myself prey model raw. I really would not stress about germs....I cut up raw meat straight on my counter and have been fine for four years now. I actually think my kitchen is cleaner than most, b/c most people don't sanitize twice a day like I do. Just wash your hands and wipe down surface areas, and that is more than most people who feed kibble do on a daily basis after meals. And an improvement in health is definitely a typical side effect, lol.

I have fed several of the popular brand RAW patties. I look for whoever has the best sale and stock up. The patties are just so convienent and good to use when starting out with RAW feeding. Then you can start trying adding other types of meats as you get more comfortable.

I don't feed commercial raw, but I don't see any difference when preparing and cutting meat for my dog and handling raw meat in order to cook it for myself.

Thanks, everyone! I really appreciate the feedback! My hope is to eventually feed her myself from scratch, but Primal seems like a good set of training wheels with which to begin.

Ellie is only six months old and a serious mouth licker, but I admit I have been reluctant to let her go full bore on my face since feeding the raw patties (though Primal does use high pressure pasteurization on their poultry formulas). This is actually where I feel nervous about bacterial transmission (my kitchen has never been cleaner!). Any thoughts on face licking while feeding raw (I almost can't believe I am asking this, but I am curious)?

In terms of better health for the dog - let's just say, I brought back a dog from the brink of death by switching to raw...so yes, the health advantages are HUGE! I will never feed a dog any different now.

In the beginning I was more worried about the dogs system handling the raw/bacteria; however, after 3-6mnths into it, it's not even a thought anymore. We just past a year into this diet regimen, and his stools have been fantastic.

With all the bacteria in kibble itself and all the sniffing and sometimes eating yucky stuff at the park, raw is the last thing I'd worry about. With that said, I don't let my dog lick my mouth!

Same thing...they often find more bacteria in kibble then they ever do in raw meats.....that said, bacteria is every where. If we try to shield the animal - or human - for that matter, from all of it, they never develop (or lose) their immune system.
