Yes, it's safe here. It comes from Norway.

However, raw pork is not safe to feed here. There are cases of Aujeszky's disease.

Georgie lives in Australia so I guess it's easy for her to buy it. One can't find kangaroo here, that's for sure!

So the first photo is vegetable peelings left over from cooking dinner. For most people they are generally thrown away in the rubbish or in the compost bin if you are a gardener. So instead I put these aside to go with the raw meat I feed my dog. They need to be pureed or cooked for dogs to obtain the nutritional benefits. Sometimes I puree them but as this mix has potato peelings (must be cooked, must not be green) I cooked them. The second photo shows the same cooked peelings in a plastic bag which I put into the freezer for when I next make up a raw dinner mix for my dog.

This is how I store the Raw meat mix seen in the very first photo in this thread. It supplies 3 days meals and as I like to be organised and do not want to be doing this daily I usually make up 3 lots, 2 in the freezer and one on the go. Then with a few raw meaty bones for the smaller breakfast meals I only need to be doing this every 2-3weeks.

I also add plain greek yoghurt into the mix, it really helps to mix all the ingredients.

Raw eggs and tinned sardines on a weekly basis too.

Bobby gets his meals separated into 3. We follow the BARF model too.

Wow, Berna, Cookie's meals look amazing! He is living the life.

This was Bobby's lunch today. Not the best photo though.

I need to start taking photos of individual meals. Today Brady has Green Tripe, a Guinea Pig Back (Well, the back portion including the tenderloins after I cut off the leg quarters and ribs), Rabbit Liver, Boneless Chicken Thigh, and a Rooster's Head.

Today was meal prep day and I prepped the following into individual meals in freezer bags.

    - Beef Liver
    - Chicken Thighs
    - Salmon Heads & Meaty Carcasses
    - Haddock Heads & Meaty Carcasses
    - 1 Whole guinea pig (Cut him up - Head, Leg Quarters, Back, Ribcage, Organs)
    - 2 Whole Rabbits (Cut them up - Head, Leg Quarters, Back, Ribcage, Organs)
    - Ground Green Tripe (Beef)
    - Rooster Heads (With Feathers)
    - Chicken Carcasses
    - Chicken Necks
    - Pork Hocks (Skinned)
    - Beef Ribs
    - Beef heart

I pretty much emptied out my chest freezer and defrosted everything in a trash barrel more or less, then portioned meals all afternoon.

    Here's the Rooster Head

No disrecpect intended, in any way, but rooster heads (with feathers) and guinea pigs? I threw up in my mouth a little, I just don't think they are ingredients I could cut up and/or feed! Because that is so far out of the realm of what I can imagine feeding raw how do you come up with these items? I guess the rooster heads are easily explained but the guinea pigs? I am not sure I will ever be able to look at one the same way! I do agree that these dogs are eating great and are very lucky. I just can't get past the guinea pigs and it would freak me out a little bit to see my dog eating a rooster head, with feathers, lol!

Some people feed the prey model and photos can appear to be used for a sensationalized effect. Prey model feed the whole animal including feathers etc

Look at all the previous photos from Berna, Halycon and me, we all feed according to the BARF model - Many of us would like more people to feed home cooked and raw food to our dogs and so want to show how easy it can be. I started this thread with that mission in mind....the food can look good, healthy and easy to manage without too much preparation or butchering skills etc etc. I remember the previous thread from the old forum when I was researching Raw food and was also slightly discouraged from starting raw because of the photos...it just seemed so unmanageable and time consuming with a need to have very large knives and freezer space for carcasses.

So don't be discouraged, feeding home cooked and raw food doesn't have to involve feeding a raw rooster head or butchering whole animal carcasses. It can be easy, quick, and involve ALL and ONLY foods bought from your local supermarket.
