      Raw Meal Photos

Thought it might be good to start a thread showing some of the raw and home-cooked meals we feed our dogs.

Here is a mix of kangaroo meat, beef liver, lamb kidney, vegetables and small amount of cooked rice. I feed according to the BARF model.Attachment 348This will give me 3 days supply, or if I give raw meaty bones for the breakfast meal, then it will last 5 days.

Glad you started this thread Georgie. Always felt it was good to know different ways to feed your dog. I've never tried raw, except throwing ground beef and rice together for an upset tummy.

Curious, where do you get the kangaroo meat? What enrichment does it give your dogs? Weight and age? Sorry, just came on the board after the crash. Maybe it be good to help others who come here to know?

Kangaroo meat is an excellent protein for dogs as it is low-low fat and kangaroos are wild animals so are grass fed and not feed grains from humans. Therefore good sources of the essential particular nutrients like the omegas, that are lacking in animals specifically kept for meat. (Can't think of the word at moment). No need to add Vitamin E. \\\\\\\\\Like all raw meat, it gives dogs what they have been eating for thousands of years and what they are designed to eat. Nothing too special about roo meat except its relatively cheap and again its good to have meat from grass eating animals that are free-range. As I buy my meat from the local supermarket all the other meat for my dog is human-grade and probably grain fed.

Do you feed raw salmon? Is that safe in your country? I know it's not safe to do that in the US unless you are certain that it's from Alaska.

Excellent thread. Recently got a new phone so I do not think I have any pictures to add. But Berna your dogs looks like they eat better than people! That is a great mix you have going on, I dig it.

Also, where does one buy kangaroo?! I had no idea that was an animal commonly eaten.

My dog eats mostly chicken and pork as that is cheapest meat and I add chicken livers/hearts. I almost always serve it frozen. I just take from freezer and throw on ground outside and he eats. Once a week or so I usually take couple eggs, shell and all, and put in bowl with greek yogurt plain, peanut butter, coconut oil, and if there is leftover pasta noodles or something from that night.

In the fall he gets deer and sometimes duck, though he is not in love with wild duck. I am hoping to kill a gator this fall and he will then get some of that. Outside of salmon he refuses to eat local fish. And salmon has only happened a couple times as I do not buy for him because of cost.
