I just wanna say that I love this board! It's so nice to have a place to connect with others who are raising labs and can understand the joys and frustrations associated with 'lablife'. Almost immediately after joining this board (on my indroduction thread), I was welcomed by Katie (kmcal1), and Ally (AllynDaniel) who are also in Baton Rouge, with black labs around 6 months old, and we started talking about a playdate, and today Katie and I got to meet and Bella and Jake played together at a local park. What fun! Bella was a little shy at first, but it didn't take long and they were romping around and having a great time!

Katie - Jake has been sleeping since we got home! I think we actually wore him out - Yay! I really hope Bella had a good time and I'm game for another playdate any Sunday afternoon. If there's anyone else in the area who would like to join, please PM me for details.

Yay! How cute! It's the end of the day at work and I just saw your post! Makes me wanna go home even more to see Bella. Bella was pooped too. She still seems tired today! Too bad she has to go to the vet this evening

Ally PM'd me to say that she had been really busy and totally forgot. She's up for the next play date though. Maybe in a couple weeks? Just let me know.

I enjoyed meeting Jake (and you and Reagan, of course, too!). He's such a happy-go-lucky guy!

I don't check e mail every day - My head was kind of all over the place Sunday afternoon. Jake is so "enthusiastic"...I was worried that he was freaking Bella out and I didn't think about giving you my number.

We are outside walking, training, and playing from about 6:30pm until dark every day, weather permitting. So anytime you want some company for Bella, just holler, okay?

Jake is ALWAYS up for pretty much anything!

The park is litterally just down the street.

Did you find Bella's ball?

Oh, well, her daddy is coming in town this weekend so we're going to go on a PetsMart shopping trip!

In the same way you were worried that Jake was freaking Bella out, I was worried that she was being such a snob/bump-on-a-log that Jake would never want to play again LOL. I was SO relieved when she finally came around!

Maybe we can get together this Sunday. Dwain (my bf) will be here, so I'd have an "assistant." Plus he'd like to meet y'all too, I'm sure. He has to leave Sunday, though, so it would have to earlier in the day. I'll ask him about it and see what he thinks.

Sounds great to me. Please don't worry about Bella being shy. I'm thinking this could be good for both of them. I think Jake assumes everyone wants to play all the time like he does - so we can work on some self control, while you and Bella can watch at first like last time and maybe she'll come out of her shell a little bit. Who knows what she went through before you rescued her. I think she did great on Sunday. It didn't take her long at all to warm up and play. All things considered, for a first playdate - I think it went very well.

Bella's been on my mind lately. I think about her every day when I pass the park on my way home from work. (She has THE SWEETEST, most thoughtful looking expressions!) I'm so sorry her ball got lost.

Next time, I'll bring a can of tennis balls - that way if they get lost, it's no big deal.

Whatever time on sunday works best for you guys - we are free all day. I'm so glad it's starting to cool off... so just let me know and we'll be there.

Hey Julie! That's so sweet of you to say about Bella ... she is a sweet girl, for sure. What about around 6 p.m. tonight (Friday)? Dwain suggested that, but if you're not available, we could meet Sunday around 11 a.m. Dwain has to leave around 3 on Sunday, so that's why we would only be able to do it earlier.

Either way, Bella is just excited to play with Jake again. Hopefully, this time, it will only take her a few minutes to warm up
