Does anyone have any experience with dogs swallowing those prickly little burrs? Yoda seemed to swallow one by accident when she was trying to pull them off yesterday. She threw up several times during the day (dogwalker was with her), a couple times during the night but otherwise seemed fine.
This morning she threw up bile twice but it was pinkish. Of course I immediately panicked thinking she was bleeding internally and called the vet (at 6:30 in the morning). I left what I thought was a very calm message (until after I hung up and realized how I sounded ), then I called the emergency vet. They asked some questions and said they felt it would be fine to wait until my vet opened. Since then, Yoda's eaten, pooped, drank water and had a really fun time running around with Brandy and Grizz in the backyard. She's sleeping now.Am I overreacting by taking her to the vet?

You may want to give her a few slices of white bread, as I head that it can coat the problem and help it pass.
You may want to look at this link about how to help your dog if it swallowed a sharp object: http://www.k911.biz/Petsafety/DogAteChickenBone.htm |

Thanks Jen - I ended up giving her bread and slippery elm. When I spoke to the vet she said it was likely an irritation in her throat. She said as long as she was playing, eating, drinking and pooping - it was probably just fine and she recommended giving slippery elm. So I was doing the right thing. She seems fine tonight.
