My Mood: Tired
Can I Ask For Good Wishes For Belle?

She woke up this morning feeling terrible. She said her throat and stomach hurt, she was congested, had a headache and was tired. I waited until she was up for a bit and took her temp. 102.6F! Waited 30 min. took it again. This time it was 102.7F!! Told my daughter to call the pedi because Belle is considered an "at risk" child because of her asthma.

I got her in for 8.45 and the pedi told me it was the flu. She didn't know what type of flu, but based on her exam that's what it is. She prescribed Tamiflu. The receptionist told me that so many parents have called in this morning for their kids who have the same symptoms. She said she didn't know what happened overnight to cause so many to get sick so fast when they weren't sick yesterday.

I brought it to the pharmacy and they looked at it and groaned. I said I know there's a shortage, but do you have any? One of the pharmacists had gone to another one of their stores to pick up more capsules of it. They said if she needed the children's liquid version, they couldn't promise me when they'd have any.

Her school isn't doing the vaccination's for H1N1 until the 23rd of November so I'm wondering if she'll even need it.

Thanks in advance.

I know how you feel! my youngest was diagnosed on Saturday night @ 9:30pm (yes, that was Halloween!! ) with a 102 fever...

I am happy to say that he has perked up nicely, and this morning woke up to NO FEVER!!

However, one word of warning from the Dr. was if they start to feel better and then all of a sudden take a downward turn and start feeling even worse to bring them back in b/c it could be pnemonia setting in..

so, we're watching for this..

I had a GF who's 3 kids all got it - the longest one was sick was for 3 days....

Good luck and PUSH THE FLUIDS!! that's one reason why some kids are sicker than others - this flu is tougher on their systems if they cant/wont take enough fluids...

Good thoughts for Belle. My uncle acted the same way.It hit him overnight (fever of 104.1)and the doctor told him he had the H1N1. (a week later he is fine) the h1n1 isn't too serious UNLESS you get pnemonia. His step kids was dignoised with "the flu" a few days before he went. They got rechecked and it was the H1N1. So maybe you should get her seen by someone else to make sure its not. I pray good thoughts your way and pray that its not anything like that.

Of course you can ask for good wishes and you will get them ten fold.

I so hate it when my kids get sick. Especially when it is the flu or a high fever. They just shut down.

I posted another thread about my lice situation. Well, the mom of the girl who slept over called early this morning with her own good news. Her daughter came down this morning with a high fever. So, I guess back at me for the lice. Guess that will be the next thing to cross off our list of "things to get" this year."

Hope she feels better soon and you all stay heathy.

Deb
