Can't keep anything down

I guess my 6 m/o started puking sunday night/monday morning but it was just a little bit on his bed and he seemed to eat fine through out that day. Yesterday after work though I came home and his kennel was a compleat mess...puke and this brown stuff (poo??) all over him and the kennel. He dry heaved all last night and wouldn't eat or drink. This morning was the same as mondays...dark brown stuff that just runs off the bed onto the floor and puke.

Is this enough for the vet? I worried about him getting dehydrated and if will get better soon. Could this be the same stomach virus I had last week and he picked it up from me?

Take to the Vet

Have them possibly check for Congenital Megaesophagus and Aspiration Pneumonia - My Lab was diagnosed at 3 months with this and you need to identify or rule it out to be safe

dead iquana/fish alert

I read in the paper that south Florida has a problem with dead iguanas because of the freeze they had, and the iguanas have botulism. Harmful, or deadly to dogs. Dogs need to be kept away from the iguanas. Over here in my area we have lots and lots of dead fish for the same reason. DH thinks that they probably have botulism also. I don't know the symptoms, but just a heads up to anyone in the area, to keep your dog away from the fish. I know my girl loves a stinky, smelly ol' dead fish! I have to really stay aware, because they are turning up in the oddest places, not just along the shoreline. Hope your dog is going to be ok.

Sorry it took so long for a update but I was able to pick up Riley last night from the vets after a day and a half on a IV. They did a few test which came back negitive and didn't really know what was wrong. They send me home with panacur, sulfasalazine, metronidazole, and doxycycline. He acts normal and loves the boiled chicked and rice, but isnt really drinking water like I'd like him to. I hope he will be back to 100% in a few days.

Thanks you for your conserns though.

Hope the meds get him back to feeling well.

You can add some water or, better still, unflavored Pedialyte to his food to replace his electrolytes if he isn't drinking enough.

The pedialyte is a good idea. I've been adding enough water to his chicken and rice to almost make it a soup. Dont understand why he wont drink though...he loves water.

wonder if something about your water has changed recently?
for awhile, i didn't know my son was pouring his bottled water leftovers in the dog's water, and my pup could tell the difference and it affected her trips to the water bowl.....also, is your dog exercising very much? I would be concerned if he gets to panting from play/exercise and still doesn't drink...good luck

Hmmm....I wonder if something could have affected your water system. A broken pipe somewhere undetected and allowing material to enter the system, or.... Maybe a change in the amount of "stuff" that the municipalities are allowed to have in the water. I know our water seems more chlorinated from time to time....I can smell it.

One time I'd tried putting the dental liquid I use (it's a zinc product) in the water bowls so that the dogs and cats could benefit from it.....none of the animals would drink the water (I now use a spray bottle and spritz just the dogs after meals....the cats would hate me too much). They're pretty sensitive.
