Cheap meats

Wife saw turkey at Walmart for $0.40/pound
She got 2 birds for us....
I got 2 for the dogs. (limit 2/customer)
I'll go back and get some more today.

12# fresh raw turkey for under $5.00? Seemed good to me.

I remember last year around this time I paid 29 cents a pound for turkey. I hope I can get lucky again this year. That still sounds like a great price though.

That is a great price! I need to check out Walmart... the turkey at the grocery store where I shop is ridiculously priced.. but they have great deals on chicken.

I better not find any good deals anytime soon, since I just filled up my freezer. I got 30# of pork neck bones & 40# of chicken necks for about $46. Then I got 50# of chicken leg 1/4's for $.49/#. I got 20+ pounds of beefalo liver, tongue and hearts for free ( gotta love the future daughter in-laws father raising beefalo ), and this morning I picked up chicken backs. I ordered 50# of them at $.65/#. I ended up paying $29.39 for 65+ pounds, that came out to $.45/#.

I was going to pick up a case of pork rib tips from Sam's club, but I will have to wait a bit now, since there is no way I can fit them in the freezer.

Depending on how far you want to drive, there's a butcher/meat market in Pawtucket that I buy all the boys food at. Rabbit, duck, quail, chicken (all types and they sell it by the case as well), beef heart, tongue, liver, pork, fish etc.... I've been going there about 18 months now. If you want the name/address, let me know.
