    Whats not to like? ;-)

I started giving my older girl (and myself) Tumeric recently, and I think it has made a big difference for her, about the same time I started feeding her Pro Plan Bright Minds senior, and she is a different dog!

If you make bone broth you MUST get an instant pot! It takes about two hours (with some time on both ends to pressurize and depressurize). And it doesn't stink up your house. I think it's gross, but I do make it for the dogs.

My friend makes dog treats out of the thick non-broth stuff. I'll see if she'll send it to me and I'll post it here.

Here is the recipe for anyone interested. She wings it, so you'll have to experiment a little bit, too.

She takes a couple cups of the goop that you skim off, 3-4 eggs (sounds like maybe 1.5 eggs per cup of goop) and tapioca flour (you can use whatever type of flour you want/your dog tolerates) and make into a batter. Spread in cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes. They are about 1/2" thick. Let them cook and cut into little cubes (like the size of a half of a caramel) and keep refrigerated. Freezes well. Dogs love them!

But I just bought the dang crock pot! First I've ever owned (and I can't find anything else to use it for)!

The smell was significant, but not bad. I can handle it every couple weeks.

I'd like to see any recipes. Thanks!

The Instant Pot is amazing (it is also a crock pot!). As far as recipes, I just take bones with water, Italian herbs, some garlic and tumeric and plop them into the Instant Pot for two hours on low (soup function) pressure. I save bones from my meals and my parents save theirs for me as well. I just rinse the bones really well to get any spices or sauces off. I haven't made my friends dog cookie recipe yet (posted above) and have just been feeding the goop to the chickens. But, I'm going to try it.

I use the bone broth for the dog's homemade wet food. I use veggies that are starting to turn or are old or I accidentally froze or don't feel like eating. Typically, celery, carrots, broccoli, asparagus (makes Sam fart really bad though!), cauliflower, kale, spinach, lettuce, etc. Also fruit like apples or bananas go in there. I typically go through my freezer and throw any bagged and frozen fruit or veggies in there that are old or have ice on them. I throw that, plus meat (freezer burned or something gross and cheap I picked up at the grocery store like hearts or giblets or liver or even chicken breast or stew meat from the 50% off bin) in with the bone broth and simmer. Oh, and I put some coconut oil in there. I also throw in some rice or barley or lentils to soak up the water. I wait until it's a porridge consistency, cool, then store in gallon bags in the freezer.

I find this to be a really good way to get good food into your dog and save money as you use nearly everything AND cut down on your dog food bill!
