    rosemary extract

Does anyone know what the purpose of this is in food and treats? I am going to do some research on it. I think my Griff has a sensitivity to it.

It's used as a preservative, but some claim that it can cause seizures.

Yes, that's what I am finding out too. I wonder if anyone has any experience with this. Like first hand experience if it's true or not.

It's tricky too, darn stuff isn't always labelled. I found it's put into ground turkey without being on the label. I could smell it and grocery store confirmed. The cats won't eat it, not even cooked.

Well, I had to put the griff on medication for seizures. She broke into the last bag of food we had that has rosemary in it. I said to my husband "watch, she'll have a seizure now after 30 days without one" and she did. So just doing more research. I do have a food that seems to work on her and Jack. I'll probably put all the dogs on it after that last "other" bag is gone.

Had a Secret Santa recipient one year whose dog had known epilepsy and active seizures. One of her requests was for treats without rosemary (and one other preservative I can't remember right now).

Sorry to hear about the griff's seizures. Stinker getting into the bag of food. Did find it was a challenge to get treats without rosemary.

Ugh! I’m sorry to hear that your baby is having seizures. Hopefully a food (or additive) sensitivity is all that it is.

I just looked at Grizzly Salmon Oil and it uses rosemary extract as a preservative. I guess Gabe has no sensitivity to it as he has been getting GSO for almost six years with no problems.

I think I need to knock on my head (hard wood I am told).

Sorry to hear the griff is having seizures. Hope the meds and NO rosemary will straighten things out.

We had to leave Wrigley at the vet today after 5 seizures last night. Pretty sucky. My husband also reminded me that I accidently put Rosemary in our diffuser the other day. Or it's just the genetic luck of the draw.......
