    Uncontrollable shedding

Is anyone feeding Victor Professionals? Gauge and benelli are eating 4 health lamb and rice they are doing well on it but they are shedding like crazy. I'm wondering if it's because it's lower in protien and fat if maybe they need a little more in thier diet. I've tried coconut oil. I've never had this much hair come out of them before. Is it worth trying out?

In Oct. of last year, I switched Gabe over to the senior version of Holistic Select, with 3% less fat and 3% more protein from the adult version Duck meal he has been eating for years and within 2 weeks he started shedding like crazy and his remaining fur turned a reddish brown and very dull. I took him off the senior and when back to the adult and he stooped shedding and his fur turned back to his regular black and shiny. So I don't know but I am going to leave him on the adult for some more time.

It took me a long time to get thier stools looking normal not many foods agreed with them I want to feed a good quality that doesn't break my bank account having 6 dogs. I'm happy with how they look on the 4 health except for this shedding. I work with dogs all the time and they are blowing coat like a husky. Ive been brushing them everyday with the zoom groom and every bird in my state could make a nest. I don't want to cause problems but I guess I won't know how it works unless I try it.

Some sheds are heavier and longer than others. Oban shed a ton, for months, last spring and summer. I had not changed his food.

So I went a head and bought a bag of the Victor we are almost thru the first 40lb bag and so far so good stools are nice and firm and actually smaller in size than on the 4 health and the shedding has decreased as well. It's been so muddy here and they really need a good bath and brush. I love how I can have it auto shipped as well. So far I'm extreamly happy with it.

I’ve noticed a difference when feeding fish based products and using fish oil in their food. When they do shed it’s in clumps because of the oil I assume and makes for a little easier vacuuming.

Dogs are going to shed, it’s just the way it is. Good luck.

Mine are pretty sheddy this year too. Especially my Jed. He's eating Pro Plan Sport which is 30/20. He's on 2 fish oil pills a meal. I did start them all on a new vitamin supplement which is supposed to help everything including coat. So I'll give it a little bit and see if the new coat comes in nicer....
