I've seen info about this in several places. Some breeders are already staying away from grain frees since the peas and legumes are "phytoestrogens" and in some dogs can cause fertility issues.

It mentions potatoes but does not distinguish between white potatoes and sweet potatoes. Botanically they are completely unrelated. I guess they mean white but it would be good not to have to guess. Kangaroo and sweet potato are the main protein and carb in Oban's food. Hmmmm.

I am pretty sure it's white potatoes.

Grain-free doesn’t necessarily mean quality food. It just means it has no grains. I’m feeding my dog a homemade diet for 6 years now, and his diet is based on meat, with added vegetables, dairy products, eggs, and supplements (turmeric, coconut oil, salmon oil, vitamin E). No grains. He has no heart issues whatsoever.
My vet mentioned this to me as well. She was not pleased I had moved Niner to a grain free dog food (I have since stopped as there were other issues). I'm keeping my dogs on ProPlan (Niner and Goldie) and Holistic Select (Charlie). They've done well on these foods (except Niner has soft poo on ProPlan, but everything else is excellent). I will continue to follow this though. I swear there are so many dog foods available now. Most of them are grain free and I swear my head was swimming when I was looking at all of them.

Good to see you, Nancy!
OK now...we have two Nancys throwing us curve balls today.
Who's Goldie??? (maybe another one of Snowshoe's OH's girlfriends?)

Ha ha inquiring minds want to know, eh? Goldie is my daughter's dog (but she's been with us for 7 months). She is a german shepherd. A very good dog - but different than my boys. She is 6 years old and the same age as Niner.
