That's the point of raw = no cooking.

I didn't think I had time either; I work 3 jobs, one job at 13-15hrs a day; 2nd job for another 4-5hrs in the same day and the 3rd job on Saturday = Sunday is the only day to do everything at home.

But after paying the cost of pre-made, even with dry food added in - to lesson the cost....which it did NOT do for us. I decided it was much cheaper to buy the meats myself and divide them up; with the exception of the Small batch beef organ mixture.

When I was feeding total dry foods, my cost was over $150/month once we got our puppy.

Feeding half pre-made raw/half dry food - we were sitting at $180/month

Feeding all raw - we're sitting at $75-100 depending how much extra I purchase; but it's not monthly now - more like every 1.5mnths.

Not much time needed. Especially if you buy in bulk, you just have to cut the meat, put into bags and into the freezer. No biggie.

And since it's raw, no need for cooking

I have not read any bad reviews, so I gave them a try.

If you wanna spend $300 a month, go for it. It sounds like your dog gets too much love and is a bit spoiled.

I would ignore her. Also, you may be overfeeding her. A female lab even a large one should only get 1.50 cups to 1.75 cups total per day of a food like she is eating.

Also, it is Summer and your part of the country has been pretty warm. A dogs caloric needs drop in summer and sometimes when they are hot they don't want to eat with as much gusto.

I have found they are more inclined to eat later in the evening this time of year. You may also try feeding once a day.

You sound like a troll with this type of reply.

Too much love and being spoiled = whatever.

1.5 - 2 cups a day does not always equal enough food for every dog, metabolism plays a huge part.

Have a friend with a lab that runs cattle, same with my guy - dog eats 7 cups of food a day just to keep up.

You don't know the statistics to this dogs metabolism, to say that a female lab should ever only get that particular amount is inaccurate.

Wow. Totally uncalled for. I get that you sweat your precious Farmina, but you really need to get over it. It's not working for this dog.

There is nothing wrong with prepackaged Candy and Spike's dad. I have never used Darwins myself, mostly because we just stuck to Primal. We have tried other brands but Primal is one of my favorites. FWIW, right before we moved, our raw food store started bringing in Darwins. The owner always did her research and only brought in quality foods. She did a really great job bringing in tons of variety from trusted sources, so I trust her on this one as well. I have never read anything bad about Darwins, I would give it a try if you are interested.

I guess you and I can sit in our corner of overly loved spoiled little labradors. Our healthy, happy, well loved, family members.

If you buy quality ingredients and meats (i.e. organic, grain fed meat, etc), home cooking can get pretty pricey. For the people who feed raw, are you 100% confident of the source that you're getting your protein from? What about the cost of all of the other nutritional components needed to provide a well rounded diet?

We're rotating between Canine Caviar, Primal Turkey and Sardine freeze dried, and Small Batch Turkey patties. It's doable with one dog and we're seeing positive results with Lola's food allergy issues.

99.99% of all Labradors are pets that sleep most of the day while owners are at work. So I would bet the ranch that lovely dog has very average needs, plus it is a female and it is a safe assumption the dog is spayed. So 1.5 - 1.75 cups of a 37/18 food is right on the mark.

Labradors as a breed are very easy keepers, as well, to the point that the majority are overweight.

The owner said this happened on Fromm, so in all likelihood to much attention is being paid to this dog at mealtime and it is smart enough to be playing the owner.

Sorry just being frank for the benefit of the animal.

Everyone is guilty of obliging the animal, me included, but it has consequences.
