What dry food are you feeding her?
Some dry foods cause more thirst then others; other times they can have a bladder infection that will lead to extra thirst as well.
Hey everybody! Thanks to those who have taken time to answer my questions regarding our new puppy! Nala turns 10 weeks old on Friday! She seems to want to always chug her water. If I filled the bowl up, she would drink all of it. My question is, is there a certain amount a dog should drink per day based on their weight? She drinks so much sometimes that if we have her on the couch she pees in her sleep. Yes I like to snuggle with her

Dogs can drink a lot of water when on kibble. However, what food are you feeding and amounts? Is she feeding on anything else, any salty foods?
Emptying a full water bowl more than once a day sounds excessive. There is no strict amount of water as it depends on the food you feed etc...
Also, is it summer where you with high temps??
Purina pro plan large breed puppy. We feed her a cup in the am, half cup at lunch and another 3/4 cup around dinner. We don't feed her any table scraps. Just treats occasionally for going to the bathroom outside and when we put her in her crate.

There aren't. Patty (Snowco Labs) recommends pH strips, but they never worked for us. You might want to look up recessed vulvas.
Luna drank at least 10 CUPS a DAY as a puppy... my vet said that Luna would be fine with 5-6. Give lots of ice cubes to help with teething :-)

If the humidity is high they will drink a lot too.
Ever since putting my pups on raw/homecooked, they drink 1/4th of what they used too....leads me to truly wonder just *how* hard the kidneys have to work to process dry dog food = scary actually.
Dogs/cats were never designed to eat a dry diet; leading cause of kidney failure in cats, IMHO.
