Yep. The rice and some pumpkin always seems to do the trick. Probably a good idea to make the trek to buy the right food.
This is one reason why I say to never feed just ONE formula or one brand of food - or one of anything long-term. Dogs NEED to be exposed to different food sources for this very reason. The exception is if one has a dog extremely allergic/intolerant to all kinds of things, I don't think Sam is one of those dogs.
But his system obviously does get shocked by sudden food changes - which does occur in dogs not exposed to different foods.
That said - nothing is worse then diarrhea or a sick pup while on vacation.
Try some *minute rice* - it's already pre-cooked and easier to digest then regular rice and get bottled water for the boy - water from other sources for the dogs can be hard on their system too.
I would feed him scrambled eggs mixed with rice for a day or two; then slowly add in the dry food.

Poor guy ... I hope everything is better by now?
How is Sam this morning?

Success! We had turds this morning! He had a double poop and the first one looked basically normal. The second one was formed but looser. It's raining today and I don't think we will be spending all day on the beach so Sam won't be getting salt water in his system. I plan on giving him more rice today and continue the bottled water but fingers crossed he's heading in the right direction!
