Thanks everybody. Very good points about the protein content. She is and always has been a little weaker on the hind end .... probably bad breeding (shelter dog), so she needs to maintain all the muscle mass that she can.

I think I am probably about 3 weeks from being given the go ahead to run again, although hubby does get out and run with the dogs at least a couple of times a week for a run, and I got given the go ahead yesterday for walking further than I have been .... so that should help, longer walks.

Now to buy some green beans for her.

I'm on my second 15 year old now, and had another make it to almost 15 and have never fed senior food.

I do find that the portions need to decrease as they get older and less active though. All of mine (senior and otherwise) get green beans mixed in with their dinner.

My almost 13 year old gets what the younger dogs get, just less of it. The only time I switch to a senior food is if the oldster is having digestive issues.
