Get yourself some calf liver - can be found at most grocery stores. Add *some* calf liver or even calf liver broth to the honest kitchen, most dogs will not refuse calf liver.

If this don't work; mix calf liver (some, not a ton) in with scrambled eggs and try that. Keep the foods as smelly as possible; you may have to forgo Honest kitchen right now, I know that my boy didn't appeal to the smell when he was sick.

Honest kitchen is a good product, but it's loaded with vegetables, what you need is actual *protein* and energy foods.

Thanks Woofie. He is eating quite a bit of scrambled eggs the last few weeks, so I'll definitely get some liver to put in there as well. I appreciate the tips.

Thanks guys. He is doing pretty good. He is moving around well--but the eating is still ehhh.

I tried some liver over the weekend--wasn't real impressed but ate a few bites. Last night I cooked up some ground turkey and a little ground pork mixed with a little bit of rice and he ate that very well. Crossing my fingers that will do the trick and keep him eating.

It's hard having a chow hound not want to eat, but hopefully we're on the right path.

Thanks so much for the support and advice everyone.

I was going to suggest some hamburger and white rice or chicken and white rice...most dogs will like this...even as a topper on their regular food.

Glad to hear he is eating a little better.

Thanks for all of the input guys. I nixed the Honest Kitchen as he wouldn't eat it. I've gone to home cooking for him and admit it's not the most balanced diet for him--but at this point, I have to get food in him and he's been happy with this for the last two weeks. We are maintaining him on paid meds/anti-inflammatories and he has been having pretty good days, with a so-so day thrown in. I have had 4 extra weeks with him that I didn't really expect, so I'm grateful. Thank you again.

When I had a dog in chemo for lymphoma and his appetite was down, my go to food was rotisserie chicken from the grocery store or costco. It's very fragrant and once warmed, my boy would eat it like a champ. I also had really good luck with Weruva canned dog foods. The cans were pricey but he liked most flavors. Also, plain McDonald's hamburgers. While they aren't the greatest nutrition wise, if I wanted to get something in his stomach, Micky D's worked.

Thank you so much Georgia. I'll keep those in mind because it does seem I have to mix it up to keep him interested.

It's tough....but I'm glad he's eating well and getting around well and we do what we need to do, right?
