Lol my aquarium takes more time out of my day to care for than my dogs!

No, I hate the phrase "my time is more valuable". Then why did you get a dog? That's a ridiculous excuse. Sorry. I am not saying everyone should make their own treats at home (I don't, but then again, I rarely do give treats and I certainly don't like industrial foods), but I would never, ever say that anything I do for or with my dog is a waste of my "valuable" time! *cringe*

I am very sorry, for you, that you can't/won't do the same for your dogs, that it takes up "too much valuable time". Maybe a fish would be more your style.
The point is that I don't buy for one second that the chicken breast or whatever you're doing as treats is any better for your dog, or makes you a better dog owner. If it's a wash, then it IS a waste of time. Someone asked why anyone would buy treats, and I answered. Apparently I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Yes, because the desire to make treats from scratch is what separates people who should own dogs from people who shouldn't. Excellent logic.

My dog is doing just fine, but I'm glad there are such homemade-treat troopers on the lookout for bad dog owners.

We lost Abbey to kidney failure during the time the Chinese chicken jerky was suspected of causing kidney failure. She loved that stuff and I still suspect that stuff caused her untimely death. Not a day goes by I don't regret giving it to her.
Thats why we have gone raw and make everything home made now.

I give Luna lots of homemade treats and fresh fruits and vegetables, but I also buy her good-quality biscuits and cookies.

I expect what I buy (the treats are NOT cheap, all 100% sourced and manufactured in USA, excellent reputation) to be safe also, and I think that's reasonable. I expect the packaged chicken I buy to not be compromise with any pathogenic microbes. I expect broccoli to be free from e. coli.

I also really want a fish tank, but DH says it'll take too much time.

LOL, no. It's the "waste of your valuable time" while doing things for your dog that bothers me really. Especially when you hear that these treats that you buy can be dangerous for your dog, and it's not the first time we hear that warning.

Exactly! I never said buying treats or not making homemade treats turned you in to a bad owner. It is "the waste of your valuable time" that bothers me. I do many things with my dogs that take much more time than preparing their treats, I don't consider anything I do with/for them a waste of my time. If that is how I felt, I wouldn't have dogs.
